Done. Two problems going out, two solutions (to problems that already exist before the trade) coming in. You'd have to find a center to fill the hole left by KP, and you'd still be looking for that other perimeter defender, but due to McCollum lessening minute availability for whoever that guy is, I'd say it's something they could just hope Green is ready to do next season.

EDIT: I agree with others, however, who believe Portland would want no part of this deal.

The Athletic writer put the odds at better than 50/50 that Ball doesn't return because he's always brought up in trade rumors and generally when that's the case it's because their current team already has one foot out the door and looking for a reason to pull the trigger and move on.   That's probably fairly true.

It makes me a bit wary that the Pels seems so ready to move on from Ball. On paper he's exactly the type of guard you'd want to run with Zion.

That's just the problem with Ball. On paper he fills everything, yet on the court there's a disconnect at times. I wouldn't mind the Mavs to nab him, but not at 20 mil. And if Ball isn't getting paid the big bucks he isn't going to sign.

Winning tonight gives us that long break between the @Utah and @Dallas games. That would be really nice for these guys! WIN TONIGHT GUYS!

KP + J-Rich (opted-in) for Covington + McCollum

For those who think KP is valuable, is it enough? Is McCollum an answer for the Mavs, or just another overpaid small guy? Does McCollum offer anything that THJ does not (if so, you don't want to spend assets for a lateral move, right)? Is he an offensive upgrade but an extreme defensive downgrade (and potential nightmare alongside Luka)?

And if the teams talk a trade like this, are picks needed to entice one side or the other to do the deal? If so, who gets the pick(s)?
Man I would love to see DFS paired with RoCo on this team but I don't think there is enough value in KP and JRich to get both of those guys. They would want a player, not draft value to increase the incoming value too cause if they keep Dame, they are going for it. On the other hand, what if this is a 3 way trade adding Indiana?

KP, Maxi and Lamb to POR
CJ to IND
Turner, RoCo and DJJ to DAL

I think POR takes on that trade with Maxi added which totally revamps their big man situation allowing them to use Nurkic and/or other bigs to get a decent defensive SG next to Lillard (Cha anyone?).
Terry Stotts and Portland part ways after 9 seasons. I knew it was coming.

If one our assistants move out, can we please bring him back?

Yeah, he only gets to destroy us twice a year, instead of 3-4 times.   Big Grin

Stotts would be incredible here. Don't think he's willing to return to an assistant coach again though.

New rumor has the Magic going after him...

Looking at the Nets, Lakers or Clippers coaching staff I would bet that a certain amount of money could persuade Stotts.

True. Though it seems like Cuban has beer pockets again.
