Because 1) POR is bad at defense. 2) Simmons is good at defense.

Not rocket science.

Though you probably need to add more offense to replace some of McCollum´s production, otherwise you are killing poor Lillard.

Diallo is a RFA looking to get paid a little and receive quality minutes. I think there is an opportunity to "steal" him after how the draft played out.

$8M with Cunningham on the roster are different than $8M with Mobley on the roster. It´s not just about what Detroit wants. Yes theoretically they can block any moves by matching offers, but you want an un-happy fourth guard on an overpay?

Not a foregone conclusion they pick Cunningham. He's the consensus pick, but Weaver is really intrigued by Jalen Green as well. Diallo can get minutes at SF as well as SG.  The guards currently are Hayes, Lee, McGruder, Ellington, Frank Jackson, Josh Jackson, DSJ, and Cory Joseph. Except for both Jacksons, Hayes, and Lee,  the rest are gone.  I just don't see them moving him at least not at this point. Things can change, however.

I wish I could change my prediction in the predictions thread to Suns in 5. Clippers dead. Too bad, because with Kawhi back, they could make this a series.

(No, I don't like the Clippers. But I don't like the Suns either, I'm concerned about Ayton-Booker-jealousy from Luka, and Clipper success makes Luka look better.)

Well I don´t see how picking Jaken Green would change anything. It´s still a guard, but we´ll just agree to disagree. Or let´s just agree that if we want DSJ back, he´s certainly available. Undecided

The Clippers can rot in hell. Oh look we accidentally hurt Porzingis´ knee, Luka´s neck, Mitchell´s leg and busted Booker open. We are really the unluckiest team ever. Screw them. The only reason they had any success was intentionally hurting the best players on the opposing teams.

Sam Cassell has been an assistant coach forever, so how come he's not getting any consideration?  Not knocking Udoka, he interned under Pop. But what's the deal with not giving Sam a look?  Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Wes Unseld Jr,  Becky Hammon, Charles Lee, Jamahl Mosely they all are jumping the line.

I liked Cassell as a player. He seemed like the NVE "F those guys" type of dude.

So far, they are keeping pace with their first two series. Lose the first 2 games, win the series. No Kawhi hurts the chances though.

Yeah, @"BasketballJones41" was hinting at this same point the other day, I think.

It's actually plausible, which is sad. I sure hope Cuban doesn't think like this, but I can't swear that I don't believe he does. We're talking about the guy who saw the financial boon that was Yao Ming/China and thought he'd be the next genius by drafting Satnam Singh, or whoever.

That’s been in the back of my mind for a while. He just seems like the kind of guy that Cubes would want around.

Limits the Mavs' choices, but also shows that we aren't the worst FO in the league. That backcourt doesn't work.

I'm not entirely sure how good Diallo is. He shot well from 3 this year but really small sample size and the rest of his career suggest it was super flukey. Not a particularly good defender at least metrics wise. He's athletic and I like him as a flyer... But I'm not sure I want to pay him that much.

Sorry if this is already been posted. Don’t know if this guy is legit or not either.
Wow..Trae Young has been a super duper star during these playoffs.   John Collins has been fantastic and they get a few other guys to step up each game.

The Hawks winning the championship is a legit thing.  Wow.   What a run for that franchise.

One more thing, if Dallas didn't get luka in that draft they would probably would have drafted Carter.  Would probably not even looked at Young.  Now, they thought they had something with Dennis Smith, but that would have been another massive miss by Dallas.
Just shoot me now. It's as if the basketball gods are aligning absolutely everything in such a way as to upset Luka this offseason. Imagine the apocalyptic nightmare for the Mavs of a Suns-Hawks Finals, which is looking pretty likely right now.
Trae Young, baby.  Collins and Capella were great too.  Seven to go.
