The real question we all should be asking is does Ben Simmons fit better around Luka than Embiid? The answer is a resounding yes.

Is Luka a better player than Embiid? 100% yes.

Does Ben Simmons offensive game no matter how limited it is right now, still fit around Luka (I.E. Set hard picks, catch lobs, be a secondary playmaker when needed)?  Yes

This is the most obvious buy the dip moment I've ever seen and I'm still shocked more people can't see it.

Simmons also fits alongside KP. GREAT defender, just play him at PF/C in the halfcourt like Giannis often does and let him roll like there is no tomorrow. He’s strong enough to bang down low, too.

His role should be Dwight Powell on steroids with brilliant defense and transition playmaking. The guy would be a weapon here.

PG: Luka
SG: Tim
SF: DFS (preferably a better shooter)
PF/C: Simmons
PF/C: Porzingis

It’s all about roles and who you are teaming Simmons up with. Embiid is absurdly better than KP as a player but he’s probably not even 50% as good a fit as KP alongside Ben.

Id be all over this angle over the summer.

This is who you're advocating trading for:

People keep saying "Well just play him as a center," that's literally what he's doing here. He refuses to dunk because he sees... Trae Young running at him.

Trading for Simmons would be the best way I can think of to chase Luka off the team. He sees Ben do that shit in a game 7 and he asks for a trade the next day.
Wow...the Hawks have a decent chance to win the NBA championship.  Didn't see that coming.    To win on the road in a game 7 with a subpar Trae Young game (He did hit some big shots though) just shows the maturation of their roster.   With the way they have people stepping up each game, they are a real tough out in a 7 game series.    Milwaukee better come to play.

Just saying, though - LOTS AND LOTS of people are saying Trae is better like every day. Before the playoffs started, even. There are people saying Ayton is better now, even.

Morons.

Yeah, but Luka will hear those people, too. And he´ll not be happy (eventually). I remember when the Lakers won the 2009/2010 titles, there was a LOT of talk that Pau Gasol was better than Dirk.

I view it as a gift that needs to channeled correctly. The pressure on Cuban is piling up from every possible angle to finally hire modern day NBA professionals and build a real super-team around Luka.

Yeah the issue with Simmons at the 5 is not only is he terrified of shooting 3s, but he's also terrified of having to go to the line and shoot free throws .. which is why he dumped that dunk off.

Embiid's reaction...

Even with Luka, that lineup isn't scaring anybody.

Not true, I for one am terrified by that idea.

The whole Morey piece adds to the intrigue.   Morey has the reputation as the guy who is always calling about trades but typically offering junk back.   You got to give him credit though, he typically does find a buyer (sucker?).   What he decides to do with Simmons will be very interesting.    I wouldn't put it past him to get a much better deal than a lot of us expect.   It will be a tough sell, because teams can sense frustration.   With an in prime Embid who has had injury issues in the past, they need to try to win a championship now.

Philly has a bunch of assets and I see it as totally possible someone bites. Simmons plus Maxey or Thybulle plus a pick or two can be extremely valuable to anyone. Mavs are not on the list unless they are willing to discuss Doncic Smile
Getting a star when your best trade asset's stock is at an All Time Low will be quite a feat.    Thybulle and Maxey sound like pu-pu platter throw ins to me.   They also gave up a future protected draft pick to dump the Horford contract which I believes kicks in 2025, so they can trade 1st round picks beyond then too.
How is Philly fixed for draft capital?

Has 2021, 2022, and 2023 to trade

2024 available for a pickswap.

2025, 2026, 2027 are OKC's for now.

Only has 1 2nd round pick (2024) for the next 6 years though.

Don't forget that Simmons is on a massive contract.  His next four years:

$33,003,936
$35,448,672
$37,893,408
$40,338,144
