Or is GSW about to pull the wool over everyone in the NBA for a certain disgruntled 2 guard.

It's COVID.

I think he pretty much nails it.   Atlanta Luka trade dig along the way Smile

I thought he lost the plot half way through. You can´t trade Harden for Simmons, cause you need an equal player back and then he suggests Bagley/Haliburton next. Big Grin

Simmons is so obviously far and away the best option, but I don´t think Morey has any interest to put him on the table. Pair Embiid´s goofy laissez-faire lifestyle and injury-prone body with a true professional party animal like Harden and you have a recipe for an unmitigated disaster.

Harden might be the best offensive player in the world, but Simmons might be the best defensive player in the world.

They have to get something back, and the market determines what they can do. I also disagree that Curry-Harden-Green isn't a contender without Klay. GSW thought they were contenders with Curry-Thompson-Green, and Harden is arguably a better player.

I would like to see Atlanta trade Trae and J. Collins for Harden.  They would probably not do it, but Atlanta would get much better imo.  One benefit is it would stop the stupid Luka comparisons as Houston would just accept Trae for who he is rather than always comparing him to Luka.  Atlanta is going to send away Collins anyway.

Steph Curry was caught on mic saying how Harden was telling him how he wanted to be in a more free flowing offense where he didn't have to iso so much.

I remember reading some ungodly stat that for the Rockets the ball stopped with Harden 80% of the time, meaning if he got it, the possession was ending with him. In a more pass-first offense, I think Harden's best features would only be amplified.
Why did we close down the Roster/TDL thread.  Seemed like the logical place to discuss trades and future roster iterations.

ESPN is doing a two part series ranking the top 100 players.  Today is 100 down to 51.  Only one Mav is on the list.  Here are some selected names and their ranks.

98.  OPJ  (buy low opportunity?)
91.  Seth  (higher ranked than Hardaway?  That wasn't our experience).
88.  Grant (overpay Detroit)
87.  Heild
85.  Gallinari
80.  JRich (as with Seth, this is a projection for 20/21, not based on 19/20 numbers)
78.  A. Gordon
68.  Anunoby (my free agent preference next summer if GA isn't available.  Will require an over-pay)
62.  Bogdan B.
60.  RoCo (rumors say we tried for him which would have tied up some 2021 money)
58.  Dragic
57.  Tobias (is Doc. the coach that unlocked his potential or the coach that got rid of him once already)?
56.  Lavine
55.  C. Wood

Isn't the thread still open and pinned at the top?

It is pinned, but if you scroll to the bottom is shows Thread Closed where you would normally hit reply.  If you click on that it says “you cannot post replies to this thread because it was closed by a moderator”.

Funny...I don't see anything like that.

EDIT: Wait, yes I do! I'm not sure if I can turn it back on, but I'll try.

I think the term you are looking for is "schadenfreude".

Ya right. If the league isn't going to do anything about Dennis Smith Jr deciding to just stop playing for the Mavs 2 year ago bc he wanted to get traded and he is about as spare as you get, then they are certainly not going to tell former MVP Harden what to do.
Driving in this morning and turned on NBA channel on SiriusXM to hear the morning guys (Starting Lineup?) talking with Cuban. Short drive so I didn't hear much, but he commented that the ability to free up cap space next summer with the expirings and TOs was not intentional. They didn't really have a plan powder and that they would have moved on Jones and Richardson regardless, it just turned out to give them (potentially) a lot of cap flexibility next summer.

So you can believe as much or as little of that as you want.

He did say they are excited to play on Christmas day and that Lebron vs Luka was a marquis matchup, but the first game vs PHX is a challenge as well with CP3 there now. He also pointed out that 13 of 16 games are on the road and, while it will be a challenge to manage the covid exposure, it will be a good opportunity for the team to bond going into the remainder of the season. With no crowds, he thinks it may be more of a bubble game and not so much of a home court advantage.

Optimistically, he thinks that a significant portion of the public will be vaccinated, at least those who are willing to get treated will have access to it (personally, I think this is overly optomistic). As a result, he thinks the second half could be wild if the arenas are opened to fans due to pent up frustration with the isolation required by the pandemic.

That's all from this intrepid cub reporter today.  Cool
Since they only allow you to play with one ball at a time, I don't think there was enough touches to go around with Harden in GS. He would have duplicated Curry more than Klay, but the need is for Klay's defensive abilities coupled with high 3pt accuracy to allow Curry to function at max.
Man, i kept coming to this site and it kept saying suspended or something. I'm glad its back online now.
