He really can't catch a break. Injury following injury...

I legit think it’s only a matter of time before Fox is on the trade market.

Strippers are not allowed in the locker room in Milwaukee...

Think of Delon and Justin Jackson.  Clearly not a fit in Dallas. One might argue that the trade for Johnson was purely self-serving on the Mavs' part, but one could also argue that it was a benefit to both those players to be put in a situation where they'd get more playing time.

As opposed to Danny Ainge, I think Donnie has done a better job of trades that benefit both teams.

I agree and great post, I was thinking of this the other day in how when we trade players its usually a best for the both of us outcome where everybody wins. The Harrison Barnes trade is a good example. The Mavs traded him to a team that planned on extending him. I expect that to be the same with Tim Hardaway Jr. if we do move him.

It was a great post and I agree with your sentiment.  Though it might prove easier with the Roby's and Motley's of the world than it would be THJ during a playoff push.

If you want to pursue this line of thinking further, Hardaway is a Bartlestein guy (as is Johnson and was Roby, Larkin, Anderson and Broekhoff).  The question is to what end?  Hayward moved in the off-season.  The other really big name represented by Bartlestein is Bradley Beal (unless you count Zach Collins)

Mannn I really wanna know what Phoenix wanted from us for the #10 pick.  Haliburton would have been so SWEET here.

I think Dallas was offering 2 first round picks and no one wanted to make a deal.

Phoenix are idiots. They could probably still get their center at #18 and collect an additional pick...

SO MUCH THIS.

Perspective 1 (reward) - I agree that Oladiopo is an unquestionable upgrade and possibly comes at a discount.  He checks many of the Mavs needs boxes (defense, creator, floor leader, 1st-3rd option depending on the lineup) and much like Hardaway, I believe Luka coupled with Rick’s floor spacing will have a very positive impact on his offensive game so I would be much less concerned with his “one” breakout season.

Perspective 2 (risk) - I also agree that there are valid concerns around injury risk and whether the Mavericks are in a position to accept that risk.  The thought of potentially having two max players (2/5 of your starting lineup) as high risk players is definitely a gamble.  For me, it’s a no brainer without the injury risk as I think we would see the best Oladipo.  However, since that is not our reality, I will trust that the Mavs will do their due diligence if they choose to go in that direction.

Two positions, both valid (in my humble opinion ?).
Post 2, quickly becoming a must read!!!!!!

He was my "give anything not named Luka or KP for him" too.
Sad part is that Mavs tried to trade up for him and failed.
Which is weird considering how bad the value of that draft was. Don't know if teams actually appreciated what they have, or Mavs refused to pay the price needed. Probably the former.
