It's hard to say really. I think Simmons is a very good player but I can't see how he and Embiid will ever fit together.

I could see Morey wanting to give it a go for one year before breaking them up. Harden is already 31 so the window is starting to close on his prime.

The issue is when you trade a star you rarely if ever get in return what you gave up. So if Morey trades Simmons a year later its probably not going to be for a Simmons-level player or a Harden-level player. Same with Embiid. If it were up to me I would keep Simmons and trade Embiid. I think Embiid is a very good player but he's never in shape. I think Simmons could be like the Sixers in his prime Draymond and you try to get a true point guard to pair with Simmons.

I agree with this.
As good as Embiid is, I think Simmons is more valuable in the long run

This has to be some kind of troll from them...if they're really this ridiculous, I don't know what anything in life means anymore.
Giannis just signed that extension. Better find someone else to chase in FAgency.
This is great news
I never really thought Giannis was coming here, so I'm just happy he's staying in Milwaukee. It's better for the league if all of their superstars don't become 2-3 year mercenaries and small markets at least have the hope that then can be competitive if they draft and develop a star.
I guess all the roster moves DAL made THIS offseason don't look so bad now, do they? Improvements across the board, a group of interesting rookies and financial flexibility to continue improving at the TDL and next summer. Now the MBT can be opportunistic and not just save powder for GA.

NBA West is going to be tough, but I like our chances.

Is this Riley, preparing his fans for Butler to be outgoing in the upcoming Harden deal?

If I'm Houston I would ask for Butler and Herro for Harden.

I mean I'm not complaining AT ALL about this offseason but it's obvious the MBT handcuffed themselves to preserve cap space for next summer and Giannis.  So I dont see how Giannis staying makes our offseason moves look any better.  That's backwards.

You mean Butler boner alert. Tongue

Sure Houston would prefer some young asset and talent over Butler. More importantly Butler would hate it at rebuilding Houston. He basically forced his way to Miami for the franchise culture. Cool
After some further evaluation, MBT fucked up badly. With the two pre-season games we damaged the Greek Freak´s confidence so badly, that he was afraid nobody would even offer him the MLE anymore, so he jumped on the first best offer he got. Big Grin

This makes no sense to me.

How is having cap space handcuffing yourself? Didn't you see what happen to ATL Hawks this offseason with all the cap space they had? Unless I miss something, please explain why you said its backwards.

You really didn't put great example. Atlanta hugely overpaid all three free agents they signed. Do you want Mavs to use cap space this way?
LOL. I'm guessing this means the talk about Luka's weight is officially old news.

The logic is backwards.

Mavs "handcuffed" themselves this offseason to one year deals because they wanted to leave max room for Giannis.

I think the Mavs had a good offseason.  But Giannis staying in Mil doesnt make our offseason look better.  Maybe the Mavs pursue other players on longer deals if Giannis was already off the board.  We wont ever know.

To put it another way, you just mentioned how ATL overpaid people with their cap space.  So what good is preserving cap space for next summer?  They were doing it for Giannis.  If Giannis was off the board, one of the major goals this offseason wouldn't have been to have max cap space.  Without that "handcuff" we dont know if the offseason wouldve been even better.  So technically, Giannis staying in Mil probably makes the Mavs offseason moves look worse, not better.  Now one of the major accomplishments of this offseason (preserving max space) is worth almost nothing.
