Some people were embarrassed when the Mavs got whooped by the Grizzlies a few weeks ago. This Grizz team is very good...lots of depth, athleticism, and a big-time rebounder inside.

The next Smart, at the very least.
Bojan showing greatness but it doesn't matter, the Jazz can't stop Morant at all. And it doesn't help that Conley keeps bricking everything

Down Mitchell doesn't help....DEN and UTA massively "wounded" heading into the playoffs.
So many upsets. This might be a crazy year.

For one game at least. Ayton has a habit of going MIA.
If the game one winners in the West all advance.  Round two would be:

Dallas vs. Memphis

Portland vs. Phoenix

Not exactly what the TV networks are hoping for.
Bane and S.Bey, NBA players for very long time. How could we miss on these two players. Wishing again as before the draft we had drafted these two, would have increased our chances in the playoffs. Bench unit did not look well in the first game.

Would love it.
Won't mind Denver or Utah either.
Just get rid of LA  Big Grin

Come to Dallas and win championships...
It doesn't matter who the Mavs drafted, they would not have seen much playing time this season, just like Josh Green. We would have the same unknowns about Bane and Saddiq Bey because their sample size of minutes this season would have been small.

G - JRich/THJ/Brunson or Burke (when going small)
F - DFS/Kleber (when going big)

And then you factor in that the team's best player Luka is also essentially a G/F that plays PG. I don't see how Bane or Bey would have gotten minutes either.

A big 3 of Luka/Donovan/KP would be crazy.

You may be right. Carlisle rarely plays rookies only if they're exceptional, like Luka. Bey got immediate playing time on a rebuilding team. Bane got time because there was an opening on the Grizzlies due to Winslow being out most of the year.  Also, have to factor in no training camp this year, along with the condensed schedule, so the coaches couldn't see what they had in either of them because of lack of practice time.  Bey and Bane both had very good rookie campaigns for sure due to opportunity.

The jury is still out on KP.  How he performs in the playoffs will determine his fate as a Maverick. JMHO.

You see, I agree with you on principle. KP underperforming will undoubtedly affect how the MBT will view his place on the team, and further how the team is constructed.

But I don't think the MBT is solely going to go on box score production to gauge value/performance. As Dan pointed out in mavsluvr recap of the game, while KP was absolutely putrid individually save a bounce back 4th quarter, his effect on the game was still enormous.  He had one of the higher +/- of the team  (which doesn't carry much weight, but does signal that the team wasn't hurt with him out there).

Further, we could see how his presence drew out all the LAC defenders when he was on the perimeter allowing Luka to operate easier. When he was down low, LAC was forced to put at least 1 of PG13 or Kawhi on him.

Lets hope KP actually starts producing more though, it can only help the team.

Have to disagree.  You just mentioned 6 guys for 4 spots.  There were minutes to be had if they were ready.  And they would of had an extended tryout while half the team was out with Covid (assuming they didn't get exposed as well).  Green got a lot of minutes during that time, but he clearly was not ready.  Those two were more prepared to contribute immediately.  It still kills me that we were so close to Bey and Bane, and I really am confused why we got three projects in a year where projects would have little pathway to develop this year.

Desmond Bane and Sadiq Bey are light years better than Josh Green. Already they are one of the better shooters in the game, we are not just speaking rookies, but entire league. Contribute to wins for their teams, one of them (Bane) even in the playoffs at crucial times in the game. Its safe to say they will be great NBA players and their game has already translated. There is no way we can even trade for them at this moment.

There should be no doubt they would have got A LOT more playing time for Mavs than Josh Green, that has close to zero offensive skills and cant stay in the game. You take Josh Greens minutes and multiple that several times, because baskets on offensive skills and production end keeps you in games, its that simple.

All it would take is one game and several three pointers to make them get more minutes.

Mavs would be absolutely the ideal place for both these players due to their elite shooting and polished offensive and defensive skills and IQ. You dont leave these two players alone. Josh Green you can leave alone in the corner. Dont get me wrong I like the energy and effort from Greene, and he may develop. But no way is he close to player as Bane and S.Bey. They would play crucial minutes for Mavs in the playoffs and their skill set fit Lukas style of game.
Bryn Forbes is single-handedly ending the Heat right now.

The Heat are actually a good case for how quickly player value can change in this game. At the end of last season I don't think they would've traded Tyler Herro for Steph Curry. Now, I bet the Mavs could get him for Jalen Brunson.
Duncan Robinson is a great shooter and smart team defender but he is getting abused right now.
