Are they really pocketing 1.1 million if they have to eat/waive the Valentine contract?

Waiving Valentine can be at no cost, since his contract is non-guaranteed if put on waivers no later than 1/7.

Ah I see. Small but savvy move by the Knicks then.

Preparing for the trade deadline or are they targeting one of the hardship players from another team?
Maybe...there has been some talk they may look to make a move at the trade deadline.

But reading some Utah Fans it seems like this saves them some money and may give Trent Forrest a roster spot.
Presti gets a late second for picking up the remaining 1.7 million of Oni Contract.

I think OKC can definitely get more assets with that open roster spot and all the exceptions. I think Utah will make one serious move this TDL
So...I havent seen an analysis on what Presti's plan is with all these picks...and I'm not educated on basketball office stuff to be able to figure it out.  I guess there is no regulation by the league on what he is doing...but I assume the commission has asked him and knows the possible moves Presti is going to make.

So...assume there is no Lebron James coming out of high school soon...and presti has more picks than seats on the team...and include cap ramifications...

What are Prestis moves? Basically over pay with draft capital to get the team he wants?  Won't that disturb the market prices that prudent GMs have established on players?

I guess as an uneducated watcher...all I see is over paying by offering draft capital other teams see as too good to pass up to get the players/team Presti wants.

Someone please correct me

I think, very rarely, are you going to see a team trade a high pick if that pick is a franchise level player.  Those picks are just very rarely for sale...no matter how many picks you have.  For instance moving from pick #7 to pick #1.

Presti has so many picks that he can't use them all.  I would think he uses picks to go from 14 to 7-8 if they target a certain player.   He can overpay if needed in that scenario.   But he will need to move some picks because he won't have enough room for all of them.

So maybe they package a few picks to target certain draft prospects and then possibly throw a ton of picks at a team with a star who has multiple years left on their contract.    That probably won't happen until they have a better core group of players though.

Right now, OKC is listed at picks # 5, # 16 and # 29 for the 2022 draft.  Would you trade them any Mavs player for pick 16 or 29?

There are more Mavs players I would trade for that picks than players I wouldn't Smile Of course Mavs are not in a rebuild mode so picks on their own are not really valuable for them.

You weren't asking me...but I am curious what vet plug and play role players are worth.

What are THJ and Maxi worth draft asset wise? Without complicating it with a teams need and all.

What is JBs hype worth draft asset wise?

I assume DFS isn't worth 16 or is he?  He's worth more than 29, imo.

If you were a GM and your best player was starting his max contract next season.  Would you rather be up against the LT or have a million draft picks?  Of course, we all would take Luka and the Mavs situation.  But OKC and all the picks are going to be fun to watch.

He's worth #5 + #16 + #29 + SGA.
