Would have been a nice salary match for Powell. Not sure what happened to Culver. A lot of injuries but he was the 6th overall pick just a few years ago. Still on his rookie contract. Is he really that bad? No hope to fix the shot?

Doesn't this not solve their roster spot issues?

LOL.

OK LaMelo, well, you've been in basketball school for a long time, and you're reaping the benefits. But I hope that if your kids don't have your elite abilities to make a living in the business of basketball, that you encouragie them to learn something else.

Oh, and don't spend all that money! It appears that you may not see the benefit of having any other interests.

Ya, I took that as straight up daddy talking.
Nobody from the Ball family should ever be allowed to have anything to do with this franchise, imo.

I would have liked seeing Lonzo here because he has distanced himself from his dad, however, I might have to co-sign this now. This guy's good, but he needs to tap the breaks. Check yourself before you wreck yourself I believe is the saying. Lots like him in his generation though. There were plenty in mine, but it seems to be ramping up.

Maybe, but unless this is known to a point of absolute certainty I don't think it's anywhere near an acceptable level of risk. I don't even want his Dad to have a reason to be asked about the Mavericks in interviews. I just want to pretend that whole family doesn't exist until they all go away forever.
Memphis has had a weird offseason to me, but I sort of like the Beverly trade.   At the end, they probably are pretty close to where they were last year (I think) but have some young players to look at and still have good flexibility to make a move if they wish.
The Ben Simmons situation is fascinating to me.  Morey has done a nice job finding low cost assets to help in a Lillard trade.    The issue is that Portland isn't moving Lillard at this point.  The longer he is not on the market, the worse for Philly imo.   Now, they need to bring Simmons back to Philly.    Is he the same Simmons as he was in the regular season?   Does he regress or cause any problems on the court?   What happens when the always nice Philly fans get on him.

You can't be confident Embid is going to stay healthy for 10 years, so Philly needs to try to win now.    Although they can't go all in with a player who has 1-3 years left of elite play.   They could find themselves lottery bound if Embid got hurt again.   Lilliard or Beal would be perfect for them, but can they keep the Simmons situation from spilling over before moving him.   I am sure Clutch won't be quiet during this either.

Memphis will walk in the camp with 32 players on the roster Smile Other than that I think the deal makes a lot of sense for them. Beverly had zero value for them and they got a chance to see if there is anything to solve with Culver. I just don't know how he will get playing time with Brooks, Bane, Konchar and Melton all playing same position. I also always liked Hernangomez. But it will be really interesting to see who they will cut, because at some point they will have to come down to 15. I think they are at 18 players on guaranteed contracts now with only Rondo an obvious cut. Perhaps a trade with Chicago that only has 12 guys on the roster. Markkanen would fit nicely on Memphis team.

I also like deal for Minnesota. They desperately need a dog and a back up PG. And they improved their cap situation for next season.
Good trade for Memphis. Beverley has been a bit of a disappointment in his time there. Big Grin

New York made a competent decision?  Who knew?  Maybe Leon Rose and WorldWide Wes were what they needed.

Much more worried what this $17M TPE means for our Markkanen purchase. That seems a pretty good fit salary and team-wise.

They can't use it right now because of cap situation and are going to have to wait till next offseason.
