Last I checked the defense was better with KP on the court, so they must have done a really good job.
Would you take a flyer on Isaac if the cost was THJ?  Their contracts run the same length and about the same total $.  With the logjam at the guard spots, and the potential PERFECT fit with Isaac, I would be VERY intrigued.  I think ORL is just being cautious as they are tanking anyway.  Kind of like what the Mavs did for KP when he came from NY and said he was ready.  They say they are working on his whole body to get him stronger and durable.  I don't know.

No balls, no babies.  He would be amazing here.

Defense was 0.4 points worse when he played for the Mavs. More or less net neutral. Better earlier in the season. Worse in comparisation to the small ball lineups that we saw prior to the trade.
In a small sample size for the Wizards the team defense is brutal. 11.4 points worse with KP on the floor.

Obviously, if both players are healthy you'd rather have Isaac. But, if ORL is willing to trade the guy they've been trying to build around for a prime-aged role player who won't even be on the team when next they're good, I'd say that should scream "Isaac will never be healthy again, and we want rid of his contract" pretty loudly.

I steer clear.

Fair enough. I understand that take.  However, that team is going to need shooting, and a vet, tbh, if they aren't bringing back Gary Harris.  I also foresee them adding a PF in the draft.  I don't know if it is as sure fire as if he's available, he's done.  Mosely knows what kind of teammate THJ is, and I think he would add value there.  They also have a good deal of capspace this offseason.  Ill be interested to see what direction they go.  WCJ is on an AMAZING contract!  Wow!

That's a good point. I just keep coming back to the fact that Magic aren't going to be good enough for THJ-level guys to matter much, and they probably believe that they're not very good specifically because they are being forced to play without Isaac.

I would think that if they're ready to move on from Isaac, they probably want tons of 19, 20 year olds who can learn on the job and pile up losses.

If Isaac is coming back and ready to play, then maybe they might be interested in a THJ type, but only to play with Isaac.

Not sure that's the right of it all, but that would be my thinking if I were in their shoes.
Kyrie goes off for a franchise record 60 pts vs the Magic with a franchise record 41 pts at halftime. KAT had a Wolves record 60 yesterday, KD had 53 his last game, and Steph had 47 yesterday in Draymond's first game back from injury. These guys are scoring major buckets.

I will say ORL does seem to have a glut of medium centers on relatively good contracts. WCJr, Bamba, Mo Wagner.

Something does have to give I think. Obviously WCJr is the best of the bunch, but he isn't so good that a ORL would want to build around him.

A summer deal built around THJ for WCJr would be an interesting move tbh.

They also traded for Bol Bol, who's out with a broken foot. Somebody from the bunch will have a new address  soon I'm sure.

That's kind of an interesting thread to pull.

Add Tatum's run and Trae Young has had some big scoring games too.  And Luka has been on a big run as well.  Fun stuff.
The only thing I do not like, and I am sure we will see it later this week is Harden and Embid getting 20-30 free throws combined in games.  That is going to be so frustrating to watch.

I would give our 1st for WCJ. He was my draft pick if we stayed put that year. I also was very into wanting to deal for him when he fell out of favor in Chi. If THJ is the prize of the trade however, I fear another 1st would have to be included (or at least a good amount more compensation). THJ/Green/1or2seconds for WCJ/Ross might do it.

Quote:There will be a level of turnover in New York this summer. The Knicks have been open to discussing the majority of their roster in varying capacities dating back to the 2021 draft. They are expected to target the point guard market particularly, with Jalen Brunson widely known to be at the top of New York's wishlist.

Seems like NYK will do everything they can to get JB this summer. I'm very curious what Nico/Mark are going to do.

Interesting as in a deal like that undervalues THJ? Undervalues WCJr? Unrealistic? Too realistic?

Whats your take? Do you like Wendell? I don't think he's anything too special but he's still very young, locked up on an okay contract, and has shown some solid returns (albeit inconsistently) returns on the offensive and defensive end.

I'm sorry guys, I don't think that WCJ is going anywhere.  Did I mention how awesome his contract is?  It is even declining scale.  Like, how bad was his agent?  But my point was that they have a bunch of bigs, very little shooting, and could use someone just like THJ and might be willing to part with Isaac if we ask really nicely.

There aren't many shooters out there on the market this year if the option guys don't opt out.

I don't think WCJr is that special. The Magic have 3 other guys that replicate his production quite easily. It's why WCJ contract isn't that favorable for him as well.

Isaac might be snake bitten, but I don't think even with his injuries the Magic are interested in shipping him off for THJ.

I mean, if the players themselves are doing it, RW must've given out some serious trash talk through the years.

Interesting in that WCJ is an interesting target I hadn't really thought much about. I like his fit on the Mavericks, potentially. The longer I think about it, the less realistic I find it, but it got my attention.

They haven't done anything to warrant the trash talk. But they are much improved and can be a factor in the playoffs. Not a easy win any more.
