Dragic with his second game in a row as a DNP-CD, I believe.  The raptors are using their 6'9 rookie Banton as a backup point the past two games.

Anyone notice Myles Turner stats so far this season.  He is playing tonight in the fourth, but his stats are wild.
One game of 40 and 10, but the rest are 10 and 7, 5 and 4, 4 and 4, and 9 and 7.  So do you put the over/under of him getting traded before all star break or after?

Pacers should have adressed the Turner/Sabonis situation last season. They cannot play togther. Personally I would keep Turner. Sabonis might have the boxscore numbers but he is a terrible defender and the +/- numbers suggest that he is hurting the team.
Will be interesting to see if the Pacers can turn it around. They are missing two starters. Should probably give them more time and wait for the return of Warren and/or Levert.

Since when did Brunson become a versatile defender if that's who you're talking about? The same for White.  Both are small combo guards.  Most players lick their chops when they see him guarding them.

I agree. You'd have to grade them as incomplete until they get healthy.

Reread the post.

It had them trading away Maxi for Colby White. Maxi is probably our most versatile defender and definitely not worth giving up for Colby White.

At least I assume Max=Maxi
Yo...I was joking about Maxi for white.   Maxi is a but taller I think...but but similar sized players kind of.  Since the article was about Pat Williams going down...I threw out Maxi to replace Williams and we get white as our secondary playmaker.

I wasn't being serious

Than White or Williams? White is 6’5” 195 to Maxi 6’10” 240 to Williams 6’7” 215. None of them are really in the same “size” category. Williams is listed as a PF though.

Also, if we could spare defense, that trade would make sense, esp since it’s younger for older.

Now, if they would bite on Williams, White and Alize Johnson for Maxi, DFS and Green? Do you sacrifice a bit this year to get the best player in trade? I think I remember some kind of insurance thing for trading injured players that would be a big hindrance to this, but since it wouldn’t happen anyway, would you do it?

I dont think Chicago is biting with that offer.  Maxi plus DFS seems like a good offer for best player from Mavs fan perspective...but analytics is going to force Chicago front office heads to say its not worth it.  Unless Maxi shooting is just an absolute need or DFS defense is just an absolute need and the deal is fair in value.  But I dont see them giving up Williams.

Pat Williams is a RealGM fan favorite.   People are constantly talking about how underrated he is on RealGM.  I assume Chicago front office is aware of this...along with their own upfront evals on him.

Maybe RealGm is playing me and Pat Williams really isnt that good...but there are numerous...numerous posts about how he is the next K. Leonard.   People on that board love some Pat Williams.

Thats fine. Didn't think you were anyways.

Mainly just wanted to continue the conversation and the hypothetical.

Oh, I’m a fan of Williams too, just with his own injury issues and out for this season, not to mention they bring in 2 glue guys that can produce when called upon, but don’t have to, like it seems PatWill should demand. They also bring defense and shot blocking that is not on their roster. It’s for sure being opportunistic in a difficult situation for Chi and I think they at least take pause at the offer with the idea of taking steps forward this season with guys who fit a win now team approach.
Miami looks kinda scary. Herro has found his shot after slumping last year, along with Robinson.  And Bam has added more to his versatile game, outside of shooting the 3. He's one of the best bigs in the league. And Butler is Butler.
Dragic with his third straight DNP-CD last night.   I wouldn't expect anything happening before the trade deadline, but odd he appears out of the rotation now.

Oh, awful Raptors won last night and now are over .500 for the year.  And those awful Spurs beat the defending champs last night.    Those world beating Hawks who blew us out got blown out last night by Miami.

The Mavs have been ugly so far and hasn't looked right on the floor yet, but I guess what I am saying is it is a long season and it appears most teams have had a stinker or two already this year.

Derozan with another Plus game.   For all his warts, I wanted a player this offseason who would put force on opposing defenses.  I may have been completely wrong long term on him, but I think he would have worked here.    Who knows though.

It has been a BIZARRE season so far, lots of ups and downs for basically every team. Some teams massively overperforming and others underperforming.
Correlating the season with a game the season’s tip-off just happened and we’re in the opening minute. Why are some acting like we should throw in the 3rd string and tank now? Why can’t Kidd get a chance to work with a completely new roster, we always talked about this being RC’s tinkering time. The twitter/reddit level mentality here is so bad.

Sure, call out all the bad that’s happening, sure hate what is going on, but drawing any sort of conclusions this early? Nah. The team will look better as time goes on, or maybe they won’t. If they don’t? To that I ask, how can you expect more with the talent being worked with?

We’ll get more conclusive evidence at around the quarter to halfway mark, but even then we’ve seen teams go on streaks and change their fortunes heavily. Heck, last year there was a time that we believed we might barely make the play-in.

The biggest flaw in this team is the talent level, Nico and Kidd are in discovery mode with that right now.

Derozan fits seamlessly in Chicago. Takes a lot of pressure off Lavine. They might be legit at 5-1. Sucks they lost Williams but Ball, Vucevic and Caruso have played well.

Yeah, it's working well, so far. I didn't think it would.

Score one for the "do something" crowd, tbh, because I would've listed Chicago's offseason as an example of what not to do.

That is interesting.  I wasn't as high on him as others were but I thought he could be a solid NBA player.  I worried if he fit as a Center in todays game and if not if he had the skills of a PF.   Still he could potentially be a nice piece on the Mavs with our other big man.    I think there is some growth there.
