Maybe he just wants the hell out of PHI and hates the environment and pressure?

I do think he still has leverage. The more he embodies his discontent the more he forces Morey's hand. Morey is being ridiculous by acting like Simmons IS one of the best in the league with what he wants in return for a trade. In fact I would say Morey is FAR more delusional than Ben Simmons at this point.

Center for Center

I get that KP's value might be low, but I don't think we've reached the point of trading him for bullsh--oh, you mean Ben Simmons.   Tongue
"KP for Simmons" would be an interesting change to the roster construction and possible ensuing dynamic of both teams.

You have two 7-footers. Neither fits as a traditional center. The strength of one is outside shooting, the strength of the other is ball-handling/defense. Both create issues in fitting into a lineup. Neither seems to want to play to their own strengths. Both are fallen angels at the moment. If you dislike the contracts, Simmons is worse to gag down.

Swapping them would be kinda like a bigger-size version of the Curry for J-Rich swap. Intriguing.

This idea didn't originate with me. But the idea would be that you fix Ben by playing him at center...which he might totally reject...and might fail at.

For me, though, imagining his combo of defense and playmaking ability seems almost like an evolutinary leap in center play that we might be heding towards anyway.

So we envision heading towards a lineup with FIVE "point-somethings" playing? Or maybe your "points" are your bigs, rather than your smalls? From a basketball theory perspective, it's quite interesting.

Point-C ....Simmons
Point-PF ....Luka
Point-SF ....
Point-SG ....
Point-Guard ...

Or maybe you want something like this down the road ...

Point-C .... Jokic
Point-PF ....Simmons
Point-SF ....Luka
Point-SG ....
Point-Guard ...

I don't think I communicated that well. I don't envision that eveyone is a playmaker. I was just thinking that getting playmaking from your center gives you lots of options in lineup building. And a playmaker of Simmon's (and Luka's) height creates problems.

My lineup idea would be pretty simple

Luka
THJ
Bullock
DFS
Simmons

Simmons to me has infinitely more value than KP. If Mavs were able to pull that off I would be extremely impressed.

Simmons' contract is not bad at all, just take a look at the money guys get handed who are perennial all-stars and DPOY candidates. BS has flaws but I would make that trade in a heartbeat.
I'd give up KP and basically anyone not named Luka to get Simmons mainly because he has much more value in the league. That way if it doesn't work out, we don't get pennies on the dollar. He isn't coming here so wishful thinking anyways. I agree with what a few others have said that he should be played at center to maximize his potential.

This! Never seen anything like it before. Especially from the coach, who (a) is supposed to have your back and (b) could always sub you out if he thinks you suck. It blew me away.

It also doesn’t surprise me that a Rich Paul client is using the ole grade-school silent treatment as a negotiating ploy.
Somebody call Ben and tell him to hire Duffy!
Come on LeBron Ben Simmons, put your Mavericks Jersey on, then it's time to get on, you got to come to Dallas.  When you leave Cleveland Philadelphia, I think they can understand it.  Just push a sign-and-KP trade, don't leave them empty handed.  You'll make more money, 'cause they have Larry Bird rights. They'll trade you to the West, so they can sleep at night.  No state income tax, so now you can relax.  Graduate from the Cuban billionaire training class.  Home of Jerry Jones and your favorite Cow Cows.  With Dirk Luka and JKidd, you can win right now now.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the fit but you absolutely do the Simmons trade all day every day
Not like we have anything special outside of Luka. I'd trade anything else we have to need to make it work i(f Philly bites)
Ben Simmons is uncoachable. He'll be out of the league in a few years.

I never would have thought this before now. But, I don't even think Doc threw Rondo under the bus like he did Simmons. Definitely a surprise.

He's been a PG for 5 years in the league and has consistently told everyone who told him he needed a 3 point shot to just take a hike...and when he costs the team finally in glorious fashion because of that very thing, he blows them off.

That type of character issue is something that you take notice of if you are spending that type of money and with that expectation of leadership and performance.

"The" Simmons trade. LOL.

Morey wants a superstar + control of four picks. Much as I would love to unload KP, even if Morey would consider him a worthy star much less a superstar, I'm not giving up two future FRPs and two swaps for Simmons.
You'd have to give me first-round picks to take Simmons and his albatross contract.
I don´t want to get into the whole Simmons debate again. But can we please mention the 76ers coaching staff. Ben Simmons was taking midrange shots in highschool and college. In his pre draft workouts he had no problem with the open 3-point drills.  Markel Fultz shot 41% on 5+ attempts from 3 in college. Both shot 67% from the FT line. 76ers ruined both.
We know that Simmons is working on his jumpshot. Has been doing it for years. Can find hours of footage of him shooting in an empty gym. We know about the shooting hand debates (recently mentioned in the Redick podcast with THJ).
I do think that if he would start to take wide open shots he wouldn´t be any worse than guys like Draymond. It was mentioned that he will be working with a sports psychologist and mental coaches. Maybe that will help.
It was time a team(Embiid, Rivers) tried something unconventional to get into Simmons head.  Publicly trashing him was all there was left unless you want to be conventional and just trade him.

He has been in the league for many years and ridiculed for not shooting.   He has been reluctant to add that to his game thinking he is smarter than everyone because he is making the most efficient play.  Playoff basketball bit him in the ass hard.

Simmons reluctance to shoot and refusal to add a shot to his game even though professionals and fans have been calling for it for years is a glaring red flag.

Add to it that many have suggested that he just wants to coast on talent in the NBA(cash checks and not work on his game) and focus on being Hollywood(rumors that I dont know are true or false)...I would do some heavy research before pursuing this character.

Unless you are a desperate franchise.
