I know the media wants to make hay of the idea of every other team chasing Zion, but to me this quote hints at a deeper reality:

Quote:"These are the injuries you have to be the most concerned about, a foot injury for a guy with noted weight issues," said one Western Conference executive.

I think Zion is a really exciting young player. But I honestly don't know if he's going to be able to stay healthy enough to stay on the court. His track record so far is troubling, to say the least.

I agree with you on this, I think there's a very good chance injuries derail his career.
27 points for Pacers rookie Chris Duarte in his first NBA game.  Started for notorious rookie hater Rick Carlisle.

Killian Hayes with 0 points in 20 minutes.  Kevin O'Conner in shambles.
Dragic -16 in 21 minutes, so far.

Yikes. Unhappy, or washed?

Playing himself into a buyout....

More interested in watching IND's defense. They were 13th in the league last year in DRating but just gave up 123 points to CHO who was 23rd in the league last year with 109 pts a game.

Bagley deserves his share of the blame but Walton probably sucks and the Kings are the Kings.

Fellow starters VanVleet and Anunoby (i.e., Toronto's future) were -22 and -21. IOW, not sure you can read too much of anything into a roleplayer's numbers in a single game where his team as a whole was clearly outplayed by the opponent.

Fair enough.

I didn't see the game - do we know yet whether the offense is running through Dragic or VanVleet?
Great double overtime game between Knicks and Celts.

Jaylen Brown was sensational, with 46 points on hot shooting.

Evan Fournier was nearly as good with 32, 12 of which came in OT.

Julius Randle was also impressive, posting a Lukaish 35, 8 and 9.

Jayson Tatum was bad but managed 20 points on 7/30 shooting.

Kemba Walker was terrible, with more turnovers (4) than field goals (3).

Josh Richardson didn’t play (migranes).

This just reinforces my feelings that Brown > Tatum.

Lucky for the C's, otherwise they wouldn't have made it to OT....

Who is their "D coordinator?"

Carlisle is primarily a flow offense guy and game manager right?

The guy is 24 years old. Not that I think he will, but Hayes has four years to reach that level.
Duarte can play.  He also had a good SL. Hayes is still young, I won't write him off yet.
The games I watched last night was excellent.  Not sure if it was the fans, opening night or just good matchups but I thought the play was good and some games even felt like playoff games.

The Knicks vs Celtics was great.  Both teams were exhausted late.  I think the Celtics are the better team in the long run, but the Knicks atmosphere was great.    I thought Kemba was terrible late and that is not a great sign for game 1, but it is only one game.   On the plus side Toppin looked much better last night.   Jaylon Brown was great, but Tatum really struggled.  He sometimes gets in a rut where he just keeps firing threes when he is having a bad night.    When he is off from three, he needs to attack the basket more.

The Pacers and Hornets game was fun too.  The Pacers got off to a hot start but the Hornets came back in the second half and late in the game it was back and forth.

Including 2 of 15 from 3pt range. At what point do you just admit that's not your shot tonight?
Sign me up for getting Bagley.  He would fill in very nicely at our roster's hole at PF. I think he is just the kind of guy who needs a change of scenery (and a team that has a need for a player near the basket).  Holmes and he are a bad fit.  Walton knows that.  It was actually a good coaching move for him to try to get a more of a spacer with Holmes.  That said, he would fit with KP much better.  I would very much like to pay for that opportunity to add his talent/skill set to this roster.

The guy is versatile and mobile.  I think he has good tools to be a solid defender...  I have always thought that he could turn into something like a Shawn Marion type.  Long and rangy, quick hopper, enough range to keep you honest.  IDK if he will ever realize that, but I think he has that potential.
