BTW, one of the more interesting things about the Bill Simmons trade proposal is his assumption that Brunson/Covington/Nurkic is a good deal for Philly. If I was Nico, I’d cut Portland out of the deal and offer Brunson/THJ/Maxi. IMHO, that’s also a good offer and would let us build a true big-3 of Luka/Simmons/KP.

I think that would be way better for Mavs and this is something I would pursue.

On the other hand, Portland could probably just as easily cut Dallas out of the deal. I think if Philly would be interesting in something like that, Simmons would be traded in the summer already.

I just don't know how much you factor thj and maxi age into this.

How old are Roco and Nurk?

Yeah..if you can cut them out do it.  Maybe they covet Roco and Nurk?  Roco Nurk fit needs more than thj and maxi?
Does Simon's have a trade clause?   I can see him wanting to go to Portland.

Who are mavs getting back in this deal?

Maybe I'm misreading the market but I don't see Morey making that deal.  Granted, RoCo's minutes are down so maybe that explains some of his dip in production but he's shooting some of the worst percentages of his career.  He just turned 31 so he's not that old.  If I were dealing with Dallas and Portland, I'd want DFS over RoCo at this point in their careers.  Maxi might be more attractive than Nurk (healthier?  Under contract longer.  Can space the floor and play D.  Will not be looking to start).

While we know he's aiming for a Lillard-like return for Simmons and probably will not get that, I'm not sure a pu pu platter of role players is going to get it done.  I guess you could throw in picks from Dallas/Portland but I'm not sure how attractive that is either for a team looking to win now.  And if it does come to a pu pu platter, maybe the price is helping the 76ers get off of Harris contract.

YES!
LeBron on Malik Monk: "Me and J-Kidd we wanted him last year. We were wondering if there was a way to snatch him away from their (Charlotte's) roster. Through timing and patience we was able to get him this summertime. It still doesn't make sense to me but we happy to have him"

What a story the Grizz have been this year.  Just a magical job building that team to go with a lucky ping pong ball that got them Ja.  They are just a deep team that scores a ton of points.    They could also be a sneaky team to make a move.   Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks both have one more year on their contract.   Combined they make 29 million.    I am not sure if there is a move with draft picks now.  But maybe this offseason.  Brooks will be interesting.  He is very important to that team but he is going to look for a big payday.

The only notable free agents next year are Kyle Anderson and Tyus Jones.  I think Jones is going to be very interesting on what type of offers he gets.   He is behind Ja and Memphis also has De'Anthony Melton.    Will a team offer Jones a starting spot?   I have always been a fan.  He is probably more a backup than a starter, but he could start for a handful of teams.

Not to mention they have 3 FRP (LAL, MEM and UTA) this draft!!! Scary stuff coming from our divisional rivals.

Great and Kidd couldnt´t  convince him to come here for peanuts, instead of THJ?   Undecided

Harris/Bamba for THJ/Kleber/two 2nd round picks, Monk at the MLE, re-sign Chriss, Brunson, Bamba and DFS, good 1st round pick would be a pretty good next six months.

Doncic/Brunson/Ntilikina
Harris/Monk/Brown
Bullock/Green/1st round pick
DFS/Chriss/Powell
Porzingis/Bamba/Boban

With Brunson (25), Bamba (24), Monk (25), Green (22), our 2022 1st and the future picks, we´d finally have some assets for a star trade package.

So true, and they're a really likeable team too.

As for the lucky ping pong ball, iirc New Orleans, Memphis, and Dallas all had equal percentages of getting the #1 pick that year and of course New Orleans got #1 and Memphis got #2.  It's amazing to me the lack of luck Dallas has had in the draft...

They are not in the same league defensively.

I don't see Philly pulling either trigger, but even so, as much trouble as we are having making Luka/KP work, I can't imagine the headache it would be trying to get Luka/KP/Simmons to work.

On the other hand, lets say the Mavs decide the Luka/KP thing is not going to work, but they can't land a big fish in a KP trade.  What if they cut Philly out of this trade and do KP for Nurkic/Covington?  Then you have plenty of defense to support a Luka/Brunson backcourt.  A lineup of Nurkic/Covington/DFS/Luka/Brunson would be interesting.

You have a strange infatuation with Gary Harris.  He has been really bad for years.
Young dropping 56, Bane talking up Ja Morant as the best PG in the league. I wonder at what point Luka gets upset about this and his inner Michael Jordan bursts out of the marshmallow suit.

I'd be curious to see betting odds for whether Zion ever plays another game for the Pelicans.

Anyone else puzzled by "the Pelicans arranged for transportation out of NO for Zion" line?

It makes it sound like New Orleans is a war zone and/or it was actually the team that didn't want Zion around (neither of which is true...I think).
