MKE gets their rings tonight? That should motivate KD and the boys.

My prediction on KD and the boys...

The "do what ever you want, KD and fellow stars run the show" culture will lead to zero NBA championships for the Nets.

Sort of like the LAL-East?

I don't think so.

Did you read that story (can't remember where it is or what it's called) that came out at the end of last season about how much the Nets are handing the franchise to KD and whoever KD deems worthy?

In LA, I don't think LeBron promotes chaos or lack of discipline, and I think Vogel actually gets to coach. I'm sure LeBron and AD get special treatment, but I don't think they do with their privilege what KD and co. do with their's.

Missed that story. Guess life got in the way...

Didn't LeBron have that level of authority when he returned to Cleveland? They won a championship in 2016, but he left after one more season and CLE has been a mess since.

For sure. I'm just saying that I think LeBron can pull it off. I don't think KD can. KD can with his play, but I don't think KD can lead an organization. I'm basing that on how KD has set up his kingdom. I could be wrong!!
Simmons kicked out of practice and suspended for the 1st game...
I know there's a lot of Simmons defenders out there on this board but if you seriously have a desire to bring a personality like that into the Mavs locker room then you're doing a lot of mental gymnastics in my opinion.  That guy doesn't care about winning or being a good teammate at all.

Well,

A) I'm still very much a believer in the talent, and the idea that he's much better than he looked in the playoffs if he's on a team where he fits.

B) I'm sure the "attitude" is part of a plan to get his money (not losing out for failing to report) AND get traded. It's all negotiations, and both sides are doing petty things, imo. I don't like any of it, but I'm not sure it's as one-sidedly immature as it seems, depending on who's doing the reporting.

But, yeah, it's getting harder to route for him, which basically means the Sixers are winning the war, imo. I THINK that's good for the NBA, overall.
I never thought we had a realistic path to Simmons.  Taking reality out of it, a Simmons for KP swap is an interesting discussion.  You are swapping problems for problems.  Some of the stuff linked to Simmons recently has been worrisome and that's mostly due to him wanting to be a focal point of a team.  That certainly wouldn't be the case in Dallas or really any contending team.  Does he really want to go to a bottom feeder so he can be "the guy"?  He's tremendously overpaid if you can't get him to start pulling the trigger.  This latest spat with the 76ers doesn't bother me much.

Honestly I understand that Simmons is doing everything in his power to force his way out and that explains his behavior, but why have we come to normalize this?

The guy has 4 years left on his max deal. If he tried this schtick in 2011 he'd probably be blackballed from the NBA given how radical it is to be throwing weight around when you don't really have any.

I like Simmons a lot. He theoretically fills what we're looking for here, even with all his warts. But seeing all of this play out over the summer has soured me on him. Dude is a primadonna that thinks he's better than he actually is. Not even James Harden quit this hard last year with Houston.

Does this really surprise you, given how Rivers conducted himself since Simmons has returned. He has taken shots at Simmons in every press conference. It´s obvious their relationship is at the Rondo/Carlisle level. Completely unredeemable. Either Simmons gets traded, Rivers gets fired or they can kiss their season goodbye.
Simmons wants to run his own team. He’s going to just as big of a problem if his new team wants him to be Draymond.  That’s why I would never even entertain trading for him. The diva behavior is secondary.

Yeah, that's kind of my point.

I like Simmons and understand why this is happening, but I'm also glad it's not just working out for him the way it did for Harden.

Totally agree. The second things about him running a team started leaking out (meaning he wants to continue playing PG, just not in an offense designed to feed a post player) I knew it wouldn't work here in Dallas, whether they had the ammo to get him or not.

I like his game a ton, and I think some team that needs him in that role will benefit, but I'm not trying to give him Luka's job (obviously).

Got Luka so Simmons can kick rocks if he wants to be the center point of the team he gets traded to
Simmons isn’t handling the situation very well and isn’t helping himself PRwise.
But it has been obvious for months this is how it was going to play out.
Morey is just trying to be a smartarse and is praying that Beal or a Lillard ask out ASAP.

Hopefully Simmons can get traded to a decent situation and Philli get screwed in the trade.
His value is dropping by the day.
