Ah, so they are TRYING to be at the bottom.  Now the Westbrook trade makes way more sense!
-Telling Jerry West to fuck off
-LeBron praising Reggie Jackson for busted the Lakers ass.
-Crowd begging Westbrick not to shoot and booing him.

Giannis had a hell of a line tonight. 44 pts, 17-20 from the field, 2-2 from 3, 14 rebs, 8 asts, and 3 blks. In a 131-116 win over the Lakers.

Awful defense by Westbrook. Big Grin
The 15 greatest NBA head coaches of all time. No surprise, no Rick Carlisle on here. But there is Larry Brown, Doc Rivers, Don Nelson, Erik Spoelstra, and Steve Kerr, deservedly so.

A little bit of a hyperbolic title. But things are not going well in LaLa land.

That whole Jerry West thing blows my mind...When you blow off the Logo, that is sports Karma level curse stuff... I'd put that on Babe Ruth trade type stuff as far as impact.  He spent 4 decades with the Lakers and was one of the most iconic players, coach and general manager during some successful times there.  He pretty much has done just about everything for them except towel boy and team owner.

Ignoring the 5 Minneapolis Laker titles, West was directly involved in all 10 of the 12 Laker titles since 1972. 1972 he was a player so that's one. He was a scout for the Lakers from 79-82. Some noted draft picks the Lakers made during that time were  Magic, Michael Cooper, and Kurt Rambis. There were reports that West didn't like Magic Johnson, preferring Moncrief instead, but we'll give him a slide since the Lakers still made the pick.  As a GM, West put together the showtime Lakers and oversaw drafting James Worthy. So we have to give him credit for those titles as well, since one doesn't just luck their way into winning 4 titles after assuming a GM role.

After showtime, West was directly responsible for convincing Shaq to come to the Lakers and he went out of his way to get Kobe at 13. So there are 3 more for that duo. West was also directly responsible for hiring Phil Jackson. So we can also say he laid the foundation for Kobe's 2 more titles in the late 2010's.

So at worst 10 of their 12 titles since 1972. At best we can count the 1980 one too so 11 of 12.

Insanity that they told him to eat rocks.
That would be such a lateral move for the Lakers I don't see why they'd do it.
I thought bone bruise is nothing serious... Starting to worry about how injured KP is

Problem with bone bruises and how long they take to heal depend on the size of the bruise and the area it's in.

The common timeline is around 1-2 months. But depending on the size those timelines can be extended. The way KP already came out and said he'd be back soon makes me err on the side of optimism. It'll be 2 weeks this Saturday when his supposed injury happened. All-star break is the week after next. Perhaps the Mavs just plan to keep him out the rest of this week and next. Would basically give him 5-6 weeks of unbothered rest which should be more than enough for a bone bruise.  That's an ultra cautious approach though. Hopefully he can come back sooner than later.

What gets me is that LAL has done this before. Gathered up a bunch of late-career stars from other teams to make a "super team" only to see everything not fit and end up cratering. Payton/Malone/Shaq/Kobe didn't work, neither did Nash/Jamison/Kobe/Howard. Seems like they do this once a decade trying to stay on top, only to crash and burn.

I do admit to schadenfreude here though. After all, it IS the Lakers.

That's a good point. Each time it happened right after the Lakers won a title too in some desperate attempt to prolong the inevitable.

The Nash Howard iteration really should've worked had Howard not been a dolt and Nash drank from the fountain of youth for just 1 more season. This time I have no clue what they were thinking. Any armchair GM wouldn't have traded half your roster for Westbrook.

My only hope is that they're stuck with him and the Lakers fight for their lives in the play-in.
