I feel like their goal the next several years should be to consolidate picks and move up as high as possible
Also find it weird they haven't traded for any young guys on a rookie contract they plan to keep longterm

Maybe Mavs2021 is OKCs secret shadow GM.

Thanks for the compliment that you think of me as the Sam Presti of message board GMs. Then I was on the Doncic bandwagon 12 months early and wanted to draft Pokusevski or Saddiq Bey last summer, so I take your assessment as accurate. Cool
Not the lead quote you want to show on Kevin Love's resume about trying to find a way out of Clev.

Quote:Jerry Colangelo on Kevin Love/Team USA: "I didn't think Kevin Love was gonna play. I wasn't even sure he had much left to play. He reached out to us and said he was in shape and said he felt owed us. And on the basis of that, we're looking at someone with international experience who at one time was a heck of a rebounder and could still shoot the ball. You know, being like a 12th man on a roster. Well, it didn't work out. He wasn't in shape. and he was way behind as it turned out. So you move on. Call it a mistake. Call it giving someone an opportunity. Someone who had equity with us. Guy who play for us get a little plus"

They are reassembling The Process in a basketball way, what would be your dream scenario. At least that's what I suppose.

That's way I was so amused when people tried to build trade packages for SGA when OKC made him "available" for the No1 pick.

You guys that were going Bagley and Heild for Porzingis need to take notice of this...hard.  That was a mind-boggling trade idea, because if you could trade for two guys who were worse on defense than Porzingis at their positions, in their best year, compared to KP's worst defensive year...these were the two.  If you thought you were frustrated with KP, just wait until you watch people blowing past and scoring over Heild and Bagley.

They were literally going to give up a top ten lottery pick to get off Bagley...  I know it's Sacto, but what does that say about a guy who was the #2 pick 3 years ago?

I think it was about getting Jonas, who is very underrated player.

Not related to KP, but if THJ is going to get a similar contract to what he's making today, I wish there was a way to use some of our cap space to upgrade him to Buddy.  Mavs are going big game hunting so we can't help the Kings with their needs of free up $10M.

Might be enough to just call the Kings and say want THJ for Hield + Bagley.

Ok, so like you, I like Hield, probably more than most.

Having said that, I'm not sure he's an upgrade to THJ. Like, at all. I think this is grass is greener stuff. THJ is not quite the shooter Hield is, but I feel like he's a much more well-rounded player than he gets credit for around here.

I actually think there are a lot of teams who would LOVE to have THJ this summer. I guess we'll see pretty soon. But, I can already see the posts about "the Mavs bid against themselves" and I really don't think those will be true in his case.

I'm pretty torn too, actually.  I really love THJ's story with the Mavs.  His a great teammate and loves being here, but he's way too flipping inconsistent.  I think a salary starting at $13-14M with raises is fair to him.  If he wants to start $18M is where I have pause.

-Buddy's contract is awesome.
-Buddy's a better shooter.
-And if THJ can take a jump with Luka, why can't we assume that with Buddy?

I think it's a slight upgrade even if I'd miss the hell out of the hugger.
Maaaaan, if the Mavs are negotiating with the Kings, I want Davion Mitchell.  I think he's a perfect compliment to Luka.

Love Mitchell. Thing is, I'm pretty sure the Kings reached on him at #9 in a stacked draft because they love him too. Vlade doesn't work there anymore.

I think the only thing THJ has on Hield is defense, which is not insignificant BTW. On offense, I think Hield has him though. On the whole though, I am with you that Hield vs THJ is a wash because of that difference and I'd rather have THJ's hustle on D that he had last year and known fit with the team, than Hield.

I just don't see how he fits with Fox and Haliburton.
Think drafting Barnes puts Siakam on the trade market?

I he has BEEN on the trade market. He and the front office hate each other, and he hasn't been subtle about it.

I'd take him in a heartbeat if there was a way. I like him more than Collins, even.

One of them comes off the bench...

Just not sure they'd want KP.  Without KP, I guess we could give them cap relief if that was desired.  The price would probably be high (~2FRP).
So it's now the 6th team for Wright since 2018. That's a dude who knows how to get traded.
