Maybe Gobert’s super power is sucking the defensive life out of his guards on his teams.

No, Gobert is a franchise changing player with huge advanced stats. He just makes teams better.

On a more serious note, I mentioned Russell a while ago. I don't think he fits great on this Minny team, but could fit well on Mavs team as a 6th man. THJ is the other way around, could fit much better as a spot up floor spacer on Minny team. Both are overpaid, but Russell is expiring. Minny could keep THJ and stay under tax, Dallas could benefit if next Russell contract is lower (or he walks). Mavs still have plenty of bad contracts to trade.
KP playing well against the Jazz..having a solid season so far
A few early surprises from advanced stats darling EPM...

Dinwiddie is obviously having an efficient start with a PER among the top-10 point guards & shooting guards, and number 26 in the entire NBA according to EPM ... right alongside DeArron Fox, Jrue Holiday and Devin Booker. Brunson currently ranks number 106.

SGA versus Ja ... They do it differently, and with different levels of fanfare, but their numbers are strikingly similar. Numbers 10 and 11 respectively, according to EPM.

Harden is playing well (when he plays) but Philly is not. Number 13

KP and Markkanen check-in at #14 and #15. LM might look good in Dallas as a Maxi upgrade, but I'm not sure he could play next to Wood as well as Maxi can.

Hield starting well at #31

Dallas has two players in the top-30 (Luka #2 and Spencer #26).
Brooklyn has two (KD #3 and Claxton #16).
Milwaukee has three (Giannis #4, Lopez #6, Jrue #27).
Toronto has three (Van Vleet #12, OG #20, Siakam #21).
Memphis has two (Morant #11, Bane #19)

Dragic is playing well at #53 overall

Wood is the next Maverick on the list after LD and SD. Wood is #66

Dennis Smith Jr is #67

Powell #88
Green #125
DFS #159
McGee #239
THJ #264
Bullock #306
Maxi #343

I have questions about SGA´s desire to win given how long he has taken part in this tanking charade. Surely if they do it to him again this year, he´ll demand a trade. He´d be my #1 trade target.

I also think, if the Thunder land Wembanyama, the Mavs should go after Pokusevski. He´s a lot like Kirilenko. Good passer, rebounder, shot-blocker and can´t shoot for sh*t.  Big Grin
It's worth remembering ... it's early.

Jason Tatum is #185 and Marcus Smart is a defensive negative.
Thibs already benching Brunson because of defense…pretty interesting to see how that plays out if it becomes a regular thing. Could just be thibs sending a message though.

Shocked it has taken this long.

This current Mavs team absolutely misses JB this year and he is a GOOD NBA player, but I just don't think you could build around Luka+JB. I 100% agree with the Mavs there.

Agreed.
Although I was hoping they could have signed him and traded him later.

Hell yeah. I was suggesting JB needed to be traded and "cashed in" for quite awhile. It was a total fail of "asset management" by the Mavs. But I also recognize that with the tampering and collusion that the Mavs can't be totally faulted.
Some big numbers tonight. Embiid scores a career high 59 pts and 11 rebounds, 8 asts, 7 blks in a win vs the Jazz, and Darius Garland made 10 3's and scored a career high 51 pts in a loss vs the T-Pups. Mitchell and Allen were out with injuries.

That's pretty surprising. Sure JB wasn't an All-NBA level defender but he was passable. Thibs benching him this early even after the Knicks threw all this money at him is a narrative I didn't see coming.

I said we will get him back at the TDL.
And it was as much hope as joke.

I even less understand why the Knicks did that then why we didn’t.

There is no cash-in for players. Especially for bund-to-be-UFAs.
We "cashed in" pretty good by going to the WCF imo.

I sometimes feel like we always suffer from other teams being dump(looking at the Knicks this time).

Too big, too strong, too good.
The games I have watched the Knicks play, they have been pretty entertaining.  They did get beat pretty bad by Brooklyn and lost yesterday to OKC giving up a million points.   But this is the team I was expecting from them, with some pretty fun style of play.   Although I saw Ian Begley say Thibs seat is warm and if they have a few of those games where the Knicks look awful than a big change could happen.   That is pretty ridiculous imo.   They have been fine this year, so far.  Although you can make the case they are at the worst spot....not bad enough for a high lottery pick probably and not good enough to win a playoff series.

Is he hurt?   Appears to not be in their plans.
