I would assume so since it's a technical foul, but I haven't found any source that specifically addresses this point.
I wish they would get rid of the blocking/charge calls with the exception of lowering the shoulder. I think guys taking charges is dangerous in some situations and it's just not a real basketball play. It ruins the flow with guys trying to beat the offensive player to his spot and then falling down. I'm sure there has to be some more tweaks to what the offensive player can do, but beating a guy to his spot should not count as a foul on the offensive player.

I respectfully disagree with this take entirely.  The rules are already heavily weighted in favor of the offensive players, and a defender has a right to space on the floor.  If he's quick enough to beat the offensive player to the spot and is willing to take the contact then it should be a foul.

Yep, if anything the tipping of the scales needs to go the defender’s way with rules.

Updated uniform standards...

Agree to disagree. There's nothing basketball related about getting under a guy and potentially hurting him. If a defensive player is actually there and gets bulldozed, that's a different story. It's not good defense beat a guy to his spot and flop. I know it's within the rules and players take advantage of it. That's no fault of there's, but I don't like it. It will end Ja Morant's career at some point. LeBron came damn close to that during their playoff series.
I guess my issue is more with players that are in the air. I just think it's dangerous. I agree with you guys when the offensive player is on the floor the more I think about it.

Beating someone to a spot doesn’t just suddenly happen. The offensive player can see when they’re beat and let up. It’s not on the guy that wins that micro-battle to give up that win. Flopping doesn’t happen in that high speed race you’re talking about.

Absolutely if a defender slides under a jumping player, I would have no problem with throwing that guy out of the game immediately.
Solid points guys. Glad we could be civil..lol

Its a non-unsportsmanlike tech so it doesn't count toward that. Think of it like a defensive 3 sec violation sort of tech.

I've advocating for a long time that refs just swallow their whistle and it would help weed this out of the game.  Sometimes the right call is the non-call.
Was going down memory lane last week watching the thunder series from 2011 and man I think that was my favorite series that year... Dirk just went ham like he hadn't since 09 with Denver. ANyways and it just occured to me that i dont have our series vs portland. If anyone has the games/link and could share would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. how would yall rank the series that run?

How much does the NBA change over in 5 years?

None of the 30 NBA teams have more than 4 players left from the 2018-19 rosters

8 teams have no players left from the 2018-19 season

Ja still partying like a rock star in Punta Cana.
This is a good watch. There’s an interesting discussion that starts around 1:40, and I agree with JJ’s perspective completely.

Same. It´s not about offense/defense. It´s about liabilities. The way the game developed over the last 10 years it´s all about matchups. Like JJ said. If a player can be ignored on offense or targeted on defense your in trouble because the other team is going to find ways to exploit the matchup. Need to have legit MVP level impact on one end and to overcome it but in many cases even that isn´t enough (see Embiid in the playoffs  when teams target him in the pick and roll).
