If we somehow managed to have all three, I would be much more open to win now moves like trading for Capela, but I don't think we have the assets to have all 4 of those guys. If we could manage it, a Capela/Williams/Luka/Jrue/Kyrie lineup is contender.

Yeah, I don't see it. The cupboard is bare.

I don't think we have the ammo for both. I am not really sure which contender is prepared to pay what for Jrue. Clippers? Miami?
Bucks don't appear deep. Especially on the wings and guarding wings. A lot is going to depend on Middleton staying healthy. Dame is obviously a stud but the Bucks may be matched up worse against the best teams in the East. Although Dame is a big shot maker and that should be improved. The Bucks offense tended to drag late in games. Especially if Giannis had his lanes cut off.

I wasn't aware of some of the moves the Bucks made this offseason. I am a big fan of their second round pick Andre Jackson. But he is probably not ready to play right away because he can't shoot. Malik Beasley is there too for shooting. We will see if Jae Crowder has anything left. They need some of those guys to play well and have Middleton stay healthy. Just appear a little short on the wings. Maybe a healthy Dame and Giannis makes it moot though.

I mean, if THJ's contract was just expiring this year and they were willing to part with '27 and one of the kids, I'd think that's all it would take.

The problem is that they don't have the expiring part that would be needed.
I wouldn't be surprised if Boston made a move for Jrue Holiday. They got a 2024 1st round pick from Memphis In the Smart trade.

I agree that is a realistic package for an expiring and aging star. Jrue might also prefer to go to a more established contender. Thinking about it,  Clippers-Philly-Portland combo could make sense for everyone involved.

Btw- unless there is more to the deal, Phoenix will be cutting several players. I think at least two if not three

True, makes a lot of sense. Brogdon and picks. Brogdon would also be a nice 6th man for Mavs, if his injuty is not too serious

For sure they'll cut some players. But they improved their depth. A good problem to have.

Certainly. I was thinking morevin line, if there is something useful instead of Morris for end ofvthe bench ?
Tough for the Heat. I read (who knows if it is correct) that Riley never increased his offer of two firsts plus Herro (with Lowry as the salary). What is the Heat's fallback plan? There were rumors they could wait for Giannis and not go all in for Dame. But now Dame and Giannis are in Milwaukee. Do they really want to gamble on Jimmy's last few years of peak play hoping Giannis asks out? Do they even have the best package? Embid plays the same position as Bam. Donovan Mitchell is pretty similar in style to Jimmy.

I really like their first round pick from this years draft and they have a way of finding guys who fit their system, but I am not sure a follow up run this year is in the cards.

Gotcha. I'm sure if another better PF/C option became available, they'd move on from him.

I honestly think MIA could've matched that, so I'd be pretty pissed if I were a Heat fan.

I actually think they will regret this. But maybe I am just higher on Jrue than the average poster. Bucks already had a pretty mediocre perimeter defense and now they lost one of (if not) the best perimeter defenders in the league. Did they really need more shot creation? Feels like their main problem was Giannis health.

Bucks, and C's, have to be East favorites. Philly, Cleveland and possibly Miami and New York are in the next tier. Philly could be team turmoil with Harden.

I agree with a lot of this. I think they did need a better creator on offense, because Giannis is far from true point guard. Their offense could be atomic. But I too wonder how their defense will look like. Going from one of the best to a bad defender. I think their whole defensive scheme with Lopez in drop defense could fall apart.

I'm on same page.  I think they would have been better off with Jrue and whatever they could have gotten for unprotected first and swaps.

It's a "something is always on fire" league and sport.

The MIL defense is great, but they are terrible at generating half-court offense in the playoffs, when teams are suddenly good enough to contain Giannis in transition. Sooooooo, to MIL officials and fans, if they fix THAT, they're golden. They're not thinking about what replacing Holiday with Lillard is going to do to that defense. It will be interesting, clearly.

Sometimes a team feels like they just need to change something. Yeah, they’re good, but that’s not enough.

I think back to the Rondo trade. Mavs just thought they needed to shake things up, get that missing piece that would put them over the top. Big fail.

But the trade to get Jason Kidd actually did. There were lots of skeptics on that one, too. And Devin Harris was a legit player. So they guessed right.
Idk, Jrue looked like he lost a step and Dame had maybe his best season. I think it was a great gamble. Renewed energy in the locker room and happy Giannis. What they really need is for Marjon Beauchamp or Andre Jackson Jr. to be their Josh Green. That way, they have Dame covered with 4 excellent to great defenders surrounding him, assuming Middleton isn’t cooked.

Even if it turns out to be a lateral move in the end they absolutely needed to do it, just to show Giannis they are all-in. I hope he doesn’t renew his contract too soon and waits at least how this first season plays out. They have no more assets now and Lillard isn’t the youngest, so the reload around Giannis in 3 or 4 years would be really tough to do. Nobody cares if they win the title next year, so we‘ll have to wait and see!

And yes, I‘m still dreaming about the Giannis-Luka-euro-super-duo, simply because it would be epic…
