I think some of us haven´t caught up with the massive cap increase and still view contracts in the Brunson range as top end money. He is the 48th highest paid player in the league. And with the declining structure he probably won´t be among the top 60 by the end of his contract. Just looking at the recent extensions of Herro, Poole and Simmons should be enough to understand that the Knicks got a great deal.
And I know that he wouldn´t have signed the same contract with the Mavs but first of all. They never offered it. And secondly they only have themself to blame for it.

The way things are starter level players coming of their rookie contract sign extensions in the 20m + range. If the Mavs want to be competitive they will have to do it as well.
Will be interesting to see how they handle Wood´s contract situation. But we need to get over the notion that contracts in the 20-30 per year range aren´t an option for starter level talent in prime basketball age.

Franchise supermax guy - $40 mil per
Max robin - $30
Starter #3 - $25
Starter #4 - $20
Starter #5 - $20

$135 mil per before even getting into the bench. What's the cap again?

123m. 134m is the current prediction for next year. In other words. This is going to be the new reality sooner than later.

And if you look at my post I focussed on players that are signing their first non-rookie contract. Replace starter 4 with a 15m guy and starter 5 with a MLE player. Leaves you 30m under the tax line to fill out the bench.

Take a look at last seasons finalist or basically any other contender:

Curry 48.1
Thompson 40.6
Wiggins 33.6
Green 25.8
Poole extension next season 28.7 (with all four guys above under contract)

Tatum 32.6
Brown 30.7
Brogdon 22.5
Smart 18.6
White 18.1

A good example for rookie extension:

Young 37.1
Collins 23.5
Capela 18.7
Bogdanovic 18
Murray 16.6
Hunter extension next year 20.1

Majority of playoff teams pay 120m + for their starters. Mavs not doing the same just shows how much dead salary they have on the bench.
I think developing and signing Josh Green to an extension after this season is going to be big going forward. Something between what Nas Little and Brandon Clarke recently got. Something in the 4yr-36m range I think would be a good deal for both sides.

What is everyone thinking for C. Wood? 28m to start and declining, similar to Brunson?

Where do I sign? Worth it!

As a few others already mentioned it and assuming he continues as 15-20 ppg on a sort of successful team. If the plan is to play him as 6th man, than this is too much money and he walks. Someone will likely offer him starter money. Another waste of an asset for a short term shot with low probability of success. His value at TDL will be roughly what Brunsons was - a protected FRP at best. It will soon be time for Mavs to decide. Play him as 6th man and lose him or get serious.

I think his value will be different from Brunson because the whole league does not know what his destination will be the following year.

There is no reason you can't pay your 6th man 25 mil a year if he plays starter minutes, finishes games and is a top 3 player on the team.

I don't think we are going to have to worry about this for too much longer if Wood and McGee continue to play like they are.  I'm sure the Mavs told McGee the plan was to start him, but he can't continue to play like shit and expect to keep that spot.  My guess is Wood will replace him in the starting lineup as soon as 10 games into the season.  If he is worried about starting Wood as single big, then he can start Maxi/Wood/DFS/Bullock/Luka and sub Maxi out early to sneak in some Wood single big minutes (as Dan has described).

I'm just so jealous of how the San Antonio Spurs just seem to nail all those low-first-round draft picks.  Such a contrast to how the Mavericks repeatedly fail to evaluate talent!

Oh.  Maybe they don't.  Maybe it really is a crapshoot.
Well now we know why Primo was released. Exposing himself to women.

Some guy on Reddit posted he got kicked out of the Four Seasons in Minneapolis for exposing himself to a maid.

Considering how easy it is for an NBA player to get women, I'll never understand why he would do something so stupid.
Lance Rentzel
Nets are 1-5. Lost against the Pacers. KD and Irving once again combined for 60+. Simmons barely missed out on a triple double. Thing is that all of that doesn´t matter as long as they give up 20+ 3s on 50%.
Nba really needs to schedule a Laker vs Nets game stat…maybe 10 of them.

Both teams would go 0-10, somehow.

He could be bi-polar,  Charles Haley did this sort of stuff.
