Chet took one slight drive by Lebron and he's out for the year. Poor kid. Hard to believe in a frame like his.

Kristaps 2.0   Although Chet might actually be skinnier.

Ouch with the Mavs rated as the worst offseason.  Go Mavs!

Interesting. Looks like we're not the only crowd who's unimpressed with the Mavs offseason.

I mean they're actually right.  They punted on the Brunson deal. Should have at least did a sign and trade for a exception at the least. They also were critical of signing McGee to a lot of money for typically being a backup. The jury is still out on the Wood trade. Dallas will still be good, but it seems other teams did a lot more to improve. What shocked me was Luka wasn't listed as one of the best players in the NBA right now. He should be there instead of Lebron.

McGee's dollar amount isn't crazy but I don't mind being critical of the years.  My guess is he had a very similar offer but with two years with the Bucks.  I think everyone, including the media, need to realize the Mavs are just going to have to overpay to land players they want.  It's hard for me to want to classify it as a negative, but I was a massive proponent of his services so take my words with a boulder of salt.

I'm ok with the logic of this, but it should be tempered with the additional realization that your suggested realization should have an effect on how much the Mavs should "want" the players.

I think McGee is a fairly good get, but not if the overall team situation is less promising than it was last season, which is how I view the current situation without Brunson. From my POV, signing McGee to that deal is like getting the best, tastiest organically grown cherry to place on top of an ice cream sunday that has no chocolate sauce or whipped cream. I mean, Luka is the ice cream, sure, so I'll eat it, but it felt more like a completed desert to me a year ago than it does today. I am not able to get excited about the cherry in this situation.

Yeah but McGee's contract had nothing to do with the Mavs ability or lack thereof to sign JB.

That's fair. You're right  the money isn't ridiculous, but the years are.  Maybe he turns back the clock and live up to his deal. But I'm skeptical about that.

Definitely has potential to fall of the cliff.  Wish we would have offered more dollars to beat out the Bucks.
