Wizards move Wes Unseld Jr to the Front Office.
nothing newsy, but I heard a interview with the Jazz coach on the Ryen Rusillo podcast. He has an amazing story. Played basketball at Williams College in Mass. It is a Division 3 school, I believe. At a chance encounter he met an older couple who said they were planning on moving some stuff in their house. College student Will Hardy offered to help not thinking much about it. The next day, he got a call and they asked him to help. He wasn't expecting a call and offered to help initially to be nice. He honored his commitment and developed a friendship with this couple, who become like a grandpa to him. After a few years, Hardy was graduating and looking for jobs. He had no idea what he wanted to do. He was an English lit major. He reached out to a few NBA teams, some companies tied to his major and some jobs in cities he liked. He had no idea. All of a sudden, this older gentlemen said he had a job Will might like...working for the San Antonio Spurs. It turned out the guy was best friends with Coach Pop. He never mentioned this over years of talking hoops. Hardy got a call from Coach Pop and a few months later they reached out again and followed up with a few more interviews and this eventually lead to an intern position under RC Bufford.

Will Hardy came off really grounded and a guy who is easy to root for. Good interview.
I guess Mavs are not the only team with bad losses. OKC losing against Detroit by 17 with 3 minutes left.

Duren had 22 pts and 21 rebs. That probably helped.
Knicks are hot. For years, that organization was a mess, but they have been on a hotstreak with moves the last few years.

-Took advantage of Mavs incompetence with Brunson
- OG trade
-Josh Hart trade last deadline
- Donte signing this offseason
-Hartenstein signing last offseason

Brunson is what makes it all work, but the bottom three above are what I like to term building around the edges. Knicks have multiple firsts to trade to (not great picks due to protections) and they can use multiple firsts if a team is looking for 3 firsts. They may be a legit one really nice move from being a real contender.

You mean we sign Randle in FA instead of trading for Porzingis. We keep Brunson instead of trading for Kyrie. We spent our saved 1st round picks on Anunoby and Markkanen instead of Porzingis, Kyrie and Wood. We sign Hartenstein with the MLE instead of Delon Wright. Even without the benefit of hindsight, most of these decisions seem pretty straight forward.

Markkanen/Randle/two first rounds pick for 32M or Porzingis for 32M
Brunson/DFS/first round pick for 40M or Kyrie for 40M

Add Doncic/Anunoby and that´s four f´n All-Stars plus two ALL-NBA defenders, all of whom basically begged to play in Dallas (except for Anunoby). But yeah nobody wants to sign here. Undecided

Doncic/Brunson
Anunoby/Hardy
DFS/Green
Markkanen/Randle
Hartenstein/Kleber

It is depressing how many opportunities we have had to updgrade our talent.   Some just bad luck, some just poor front office.    Hopefully they have no more gaffes.   Can't afford them any more.

Lauri is a fascinating what if.   If you remember, the Mavs had interest and supposedly Lauri had interest going to Dallas.   The issue is he was a restricted free agent.   I remember asking the board if you would give up Maxi and I believe a future first for Lauri.    Most said no.   A few years later and that appears to be a steal.  Who knows if they offered Maxi or if Chicago had any interest in any of our parts.   He was solid in Cleveland the next year but has made a huge jump the last two years in Utah.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired forward Lauri Markkanen in a sign-and-trade agreement from Chicago, Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman announced Saturday from Cleveland Clinic Courts. In a three-team deal, Cleveland traded forward Larry Nance Jr. to Portland and a protected 2023 second round pick (via Denver) to Chicago. The Bulls also received forward Derrick Jones Jr. from Portland and the Trail Blazers’ lottery protected 2022 first round pick as part of the trade.

He probably tore a groin muscle, cause SAS was swinging from his nuts for four days. Luckily Luka scored 73, so the resident racist SAS had to get off his dick before Embiid suffered a herniated disc in his lower back, too.

I'd take Randle over Bagley in a heartbeat.

Of course.  Randle is a good player but bad fit.  Bagley is bad player and bad fit.

"The Lakers have shot 233 more free throws coming into this game than their opponents this year. Far and away ahead of the 2nd place team, the New York Knicks... Oddly, the Lakers are dead last in drives to the basket."

Something REAL fishy goin on here.......

Anthony Edwards probably going to get fined after this. They won the game too.
Wembanyama is going to be a scary guy to play against for his entire career.

Tweet from Wood after Hayes starting for the shorthanded Lakers team instead of him.

Pretty amazing streak Wood is working on. Never finished above .500. Last year he joined a WCF and team team was awful. So he joined this past years WCF and the team is currently under .500. I think wood has very little to do with the Lakers record, but still. So glad we don’t need to talk about how we were destroying a fringe all star after every game this year.

Dang.  I thought the Kidd hate was overboard, but just scroll down under that tweet and get a load of the Ham hate in LA.

Apparently, they're a championship level team that's being shackled by their coach.

I am pretty surprised the LA Lakers, with LeBron and AD, don't employ an actual championship level coach, tbh.
