This is what I'm curious as well.  Forgot that he's an RFA still but do wonder what kind of decisions they make around this because there has to be some sort of fallout.

Pretty fair penalty.  The Mavs were too public about doing the same thing other teams do and everyone knows happens especially toward of the end of NBA seasons.  It's simply a don't ask don't tell policy for dealing with something that basically has no perfect solution.

Some might want a stiffer penalty, but the Mavs actually deserve some credit for playing hard to win almost to the end of the season when they really could have played for significantly higher pick by tanking earlier.  Fans can blame or thank the Mavs star players for the way the draft odds landed.

And that’s why you don’t let the players make management decisions. Is Luka gonna start recruiting now too? No. He’ll say they can make those decisions and it’s not his job. He was injured pretty badly from Feb til the end of the season. Perfect reason to shut him down.
miles is a great player and he is one of the upgrades that we can possibly acquire with the limited trading assets we have. off-court issues ain't gonna offset the potential benefits he may deliver on court. as we have gambled on kyrie there is no reason not to give Miles a try for a much lower price tbh.
Pat Beverley 1-9 and only 3 points in their 2 play-in games. Will he finally wear a Mavs uniform next season?  Confused
Depressing to watch the young Wolves without their All-NBA defender and they still have 4-5 guys that would be the #1 defender on the Mavs. I really don´t see how we compete with these teams in the future. They are younger, better, have better assets and better management.
It´s delusional to think a Clint Capela-type can close this gap.

Mavs have definitely fell behind the competition in both conferences. These young teams with better, younger rosters are making their move. It's going to take smart business decisions to get this team back on track, that I don't really see forthcoming. This isn't just about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
You may not like Miami, but they are a mentally tough team. Heat culture is real. Jimmy Butler doesn't get enough credit for how good he is and how clutch of a performer he is when it counts. Milwaukee will have they're hands full as Miami swept them just 2 years ago. But I don't see Miami winning that series.
Miami is one of the most successful franchises in the 21st century with 3 championships, next only to lakers, spurs and warriors.

Not that I am disagreeing, but Dallas has one of the few guys that really matter.  Maybe Edwards get there too but he is probably not ever the level franchise player Luka is.  There is no reason a competent front office can’t find complimentary players around Luka And maybe Kyrie.

If you find guys who complement them, there are few players I am picking against ins big game.

Naz Reid undrafted, Kyle Anderson MLE, McDaniels late first,  Vanderbilt traded who was a former second rounder, etc.  these are not huge moves but smart moves.   They really don’t matter if you don’t have a star.  Dallas has a star….at least for now.
Time to scout Jalen McDaniels and Paul Reed. Tongue

Let´s hope the Mavs East put up a fight.
How many 1sts did we have at the deadline? We should have offered the Suns everything under the sun for Mikael Bridges and let them trade it for Kyrie/KD.

I agree totally. The point I'm making is do you trust the organization currently constructed to make the right decisions on deals? Thus far, I don't.  I don't care if you have a generational talent or not. He's only as good as the team around him. Milwaukee and Boston are classic examples. They've built a deep roster of vets and young talent around they're star player.
Brunson is a master at defending the take foul.   Just amazing.
well since I posted that, Jalen missed a take foul and wouldn't you know it the Cavs go on a run Smile

https://twitter.com/rich_hofmann/status/...3148342272

He is playing mostly backup center this year.   Is he mainly a small ball 5 or can he play PF?   Can he defend?  Can he defend on the perimeter?
Brunson is a killer. Hate to see what he's doing for another team. He's got 22 pts in the 2nd half. Mitchell has 38. This is probably the best matchup in the 1st round. Josh Hart made some big plays as well. The Knicks are legit. 1st game one road win in 24 years in the playoffs. 101-97.
Knicks finishing five:

Re-sign me Mavs.
Drafted with Mavs pick.
Trade for me Mavs.
Sign me Mavs.
Draft me Mavs.
<3 Brunson <3

Shoulda forced him to turn down somewhere between $150 and $175 million. Asking him the number that would make him stay is just weak
I will never forgive Mark Cuban

We were better off with Ross Perot Jr who went out and hired his guy and stepped back to let him do his thing.
