Looks like Mavs are catching a break as the pelicans look like they are going to lose at home to the Bulls.

Kings leapfrogged them both, as they are the 5 seed now after beating the Clippers on the road.  These standings are going to be fluid the rest of the year, especially between the 5-9 seeds. Only 3 games separate them. You lose or win a few games in a row, you can really drop or rise in the standings.

Assuming the Nuggets finish 2nd or 3rd in the standings, the Mavericks really need to finish 4th or 5th, IMO.

That will set things up nicely for a Nuggets-Mavs WCF.

While I'm sure that yesterday's loss has engendered much hand-wringing, those who are concerned should look at the schedule again.

injury update:

During Friday’s game, Trae Young suffered a left-hand injury. He underwent an MRI yesterday, which revealed a tear of the radial collateral ligament (RCL) in the fifth finger of his left hand. He will undergo surgery to repair the RCL on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

I wonder if he’ll ever play a game for Atlanta again.
Missed opportunity for Sacramento. They were coming off a game the previous night, but they had Miami at home with Miami missing a ton of players. Miami beat them. That must be a frustrating loss for Sacramento fans.

Pistons got jobbed at the Garden. That was clearly a foul.

Only Luka has more 30 pt games in a loss.
Poku signing with Charlotte. For a team with one loss since the trade deadline....the rich get richer.

In all seriousness, probably a good opportunity for him. I am not sure if he is an NBA player but he should get some opportunity to show he can play.

I'm sure he could have went to a better team. He's going to fight for PT with all the young bigs Charlotte has.

This is why it’s such a shame that Luka is wasting his prime. Next year, it could be him with the season ending injury. If you’re great, you just can’t afford to give seasons away because of something like coaching. Time goes fast. Luka could easily find himself in his late 20s without ever really being on a truly good team.
