I'd trade McGee for Patty Mills so fast your head would spin. Don't even need to check if he's playing well this year, his contract, anything. I realize he's like 50 years old but I, personally, would jump at that if it was possible.

He is same age as McGee. His contract is a bit higher but one year shorter. He plays only 12 mpg because Sumner has been playing well for them. I would be all over it too, but I doubt any team is stupid enough to take McGee without getting compensation. Whiteside might do more for them at vet min.

I'd do that so fast it'd break the laws of physics.

I would do it so fast it’d make an owl’s head spin (don’t want to break your neck).

Jalen Brunson is that dude. Just as I suspected. He has helped change the culture in NY.

We would have had a real chance of beating the Jazz even without Luka and that was 100% about Brunson
Boggles the mind we didn't do all we could to dump contracts to keep him. We'll end up using more assets to acquire a replacement
Every time I see Julius Randle, Lauri Markkanen and Myles Turner´s numbers I have to think of the no good players want to sign in Dallas narrative.
Here's a player the Mavs can get, I think, if they're willing to satisfy his contractual demands. Personally, I think that would be endgame. I want no part of this guy. I have a very bad feeling about where his career is headed. Someone is going to trade for and pay him, however.

No thank you.

Personally I don´t get why some of us are so high on him. One of the worst finishers in the paint in the entire league. Career 43% from 2-point range. Streaky shooter. Only 32.5% from 3 this season. Not a single season in his career with above average TS%. He is a good passer but it´s not really breaking down the defense stuff a la Luka. More about him setting up teammates and distributing the ball.
Also like his on-ball defense but come playoff team he is going to be a target.

Count me on team. No super small guards. No lumbering bigs.

I am incredibly leery of ALL small guards. Which is why I understood on a level the Mavs not wanting to invest in JB (though losing him for nothing was idiotic). Which is why I screamed against the Mavs chasing Kemba in 2019.

BUT FVV has only 11,000 minutes on his body (Kemba had 20,000 on his body when he was 28) and so that bodes well for FVV aging more gracefully than most small guards. And his small guard play isn't built on athleticism and speed.

That said, I don't think I want ANY small guard in the $20+M range. But if there is any small guard out there I might be convinced to come around on, it might be FVV. He is a winner and regularly impacts his teams in impressive ways. But again, I don't want ANY small guard.

Well he's having an abysmal season. Most Toronto fans will tell you he's the big problem up there. I'm not close enough to the situation to have an opinion about whether it's temporary, situational, mental or what, but that, combined with my dislike for his offensive game and the idea of signing him to a NEW expensive multi-year deal right away just suck any excitement out I might possibly have. I'd be a hard no at pretty much any price...I suppose I might prefer him to Dinwiddie.
I'm counting Kamm's word salad as an endorsement of signing FVV.

Umm, no.

Let me try again.

1) I do not like small guards.

2) I do not want the Mavs pursuing small guards.

3) I could see a world where someone could convince me that FVV could be a good acquisition.

4) I do not like small guards.

5) I do not want the Mavs pursuing small guards.

You're in favor of a VanVleet acquisition and re-signing. Got it.

@"Kammrath", you're lucky I don't have the ability to edit your title!

At least he isn't lusting after FVV.

I'm reading between the lines of his post and I'm pretty sure he's saying he wants the Mavs to do whatever they can to get VanVleet and ideally pair him with Kemba (once the Mavs are able to sign Kemba to a long term contract of course).
