I also think KAT is a soft loser and any team that trades for him are dumb. (I'm probably going to eat my words cause I think there's a nonzero chance the Mavs get for KAT in the future)

You wont be eating your words, it would still be dumb.
I would not be surprised if KAT is our next big move. Seems like a Cuban type of deal.

$49m
$53m
$57m
$61m

Salaries starting next season.

I just can't see it.  We don't have enough bad contracts to send back in exchange for a horrifically negative one.

And we thought Ayton's contract was negative??

It's moments like this when I hope you really are Mark. Thanks for this.
What is the deal with Jaden Ivey in Detroit? I noticed he has been out of the rotation recently. I don’t believe he is injured. Out of the rotation? Benched? Sending a message? Sort of odd for a guy picked so high last year who had moments to be completely out of the rotation in his second year. They have a new coach. Sort of weird.

Edit: My bad. Looks like he was sick last game. Still coming off the bench playing behind Hayes. Detroit is also missing Monte Morris.
The Killian Hayes rumors just won't die. An article from yesterday.

"Killian Hayes is starting over Ivey because Williams likes his defense or the team is trying to let Hayes attempt to increase his trade value in this starting role.

According to Bleacher Report, the Pistons had been engaged in trade talks with the Dallas Mavericks centered around Hayes. He is expendable because of the team’s loaded backcourt and would likely be a throw-in for a trade that would free up roster space."

I truly don't see where Hayes fits in this already glutted backcourt. And I also don't see what he brings what this team doesn't already get in Green and Exum. If anything he's worse than both of those guys already.

Looking at Detroits roster, there are some nice backup bigs and some vet scoring, but no one that I think is worth spending any meaningful assets on. The only trade that remotely makes sense to me within the frame of these rumors is Burks+Hayes for Holmes+Morris.

But does that make the Mavs better? I mean they improve on depth and perhaps turn 2 guys they were never going to use into playable dudes, but other than that I don't see this as a huge improvement.
There are very few potential trade targets who would inspire less enthusiasm from me than Killian Hayes. In fact, that number might be zero. I flatly do not want him on the Mavericks, and would say the same if he were an actual free agent looking for a minimum contract.
Only guy I’m kinda interested in on Det is Isaiah Stewart. He would be a great backup C. They’ve been trying to develop him as a starting PF giving him a green light on 3’s, he’s started the season at 46%. If he settles around 40%, he would be an amazing Maxi replacement.

Isn't that just regurgitating an old rumor.  THJ/Something for Bogdanovic/Hayes. I can't recall if that was TDL or summer.
They had the vet min version of Hayes on the roster. Ntilikina was solid but when it mattered most he was unplayable on offense. Now they are trying something different with Exum. Hayes makes no sense if there aren't at least two outgoing PG/SG sized players outgoing.

It’s trade discussions that happened, right? Not ongoing? I suspect he was under consideration after the Thybulle RFA deal got matched. Ended up signing Exum and then DJJ. So I’m guessing that ship has sailed. But recall they were making lots of calls trying to ship MaGee and Hardaway this summer. So some names would hafta have come up. This one (past tense) makes sense to me. Maybe he still does if Timmy is outgoing and something else is also coming back. Right now, though, Timmy looks like he’s gonna be an asset both on the court and next summer as an expiring.

Correct. Fox is the head of the snake. That's why they've hit the skids.

Detroit's team is a mash unit now. They got off to a decent start before the injuries hit. Bogie, Morris, Ivey, Burks, Livers, Duren, and now Harris have missed time. Can't judge them until they're whole again. They've lost 4 straight.

Lots of injuries early in the season. Same thing in the NFL. What's going on?

Interesting. He was great in preseason

Tari Eason coming back tonight.  They just have too many wings to get minutes for everyone at the NBA level although I did think he had a chance to take Jae'Sean Tate's minutes but that hasn't been the case.
Wood is killing it defensively when paired with AD. This is precisely how he should have been used here. You can't leave him on an island.
