Let’s please sign him

I remember liking him in that draft, but I admit I haven't kept up with him.

What has held him back? Not a great sign that his team doesn't want him, right?

Heck I really don’t want him back. It just wouldn’t be the end of the world to me.

It was a typical genius Carlisle gimmick that the Clips quickly figured out.  We were 1-3 in playoff games Boban played in.  He's a liability on defense and he just misses so many bunnies now and his efficiency numbers bear that out.

I love Boban the person, but we should be using the end of the bench for guys that can develop.

I mean, I thought of him as trade fodder right away, too, but then why allow the marketing team to hype him up so much?

I think he is on the Jordan Clarkson career trajectory. He knows how to score but is not a good playmaker. More of a 6th man than a starter.

The problem is clearly off the court. He missed many months with an indefinite suspension for violating the league´s drug policy. We all know to get indefinitely suspended for violating the National THC Association rules, you have to do some really serious stuff. If he has put this behind him and his playing/performance numbers suggest so, then he´s obviously a super-interesting lower cost target.

That stings a little.

Agreed, but I think he´s also somewhat underrated as a play-maker. Would be a fantastic target for back-up SG.

Hey, even if all he can do is create shots for himself that would be a welcome addition to this team.

He actually had a decent year. Positive on/off, shot 40% from three, stuff like PER/TS% has improved every year, NetRtgs too. Afaik there were some injuries and offcourt things earlier but he’s still very young and has already shown that he can help a team.

I think he’s an MLE guy at least.

Given how handcuffed we are with assets, fallen angels is my favorite way to round out the roster.  Just have to be sure his personal issues are behind him.

Ok, you have my attention...

See, that's the thing people forget about. To add any kind of ball-handler, which is needed, they must first be able to function in the default Mavs situation: Luka handling the ball. To have the positive effect people on the "secondary creator" train (on which I've been a passenger since the bubble) want to see, both skillsets must be present. Otherwise, you're robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Depends how serious his off-court issues were (still are?).

I think it would take a LOT of convincing from Nico/Kidd for Cuban to sign off on such a deal after what happened with Odom and OJ Mayo, especially at the full MLE. Maybe a very short term deal with a team option.

He was suspended the year prior.  I believe he got off to a slow start this year.  Maybe recovering from an injury, but he had some real nice games during the year.  He also seemed like he matured.

He is not a better player than Hardaway now, but depending on the other moves the Mavs did, I may prefer him to Hardaway.  More of a boom or bust prospect, but he is younger and I think could fit well next to Luka.    Other moves would be needed.

Kind of expected since they got Bouknight in the draft.

Ball/Graham
Rozier/Bouknight (#11)
Bridges/Martin
Hayward/Washington
Plumlee/Jones (#19)

Very decent team built around Ball.
Haha, @"Tyler" I just noticed your title. Has it been like that since I customized it for you???

Hilarious.
