I would love Holmes at the right price. I get the sense that Collins is kind of off the board (staying in Atlanta).

The only way that could be redeemed is....

1) ...KP turns out to be a GREAT pick and roll partner with Luka under a new coach.

OR

2) ...KP gets flipped before the TDL for a great package.

I will give Nico the benefit of the doubt if KP is still on the roster (and neither JC or RH are signed), but I will be skeptical and ready to jump off the bandwagon if neither of those two things happen.

With the cap clearing pan, they may have enough to give Dragic a deal and then use the room exception on someone.

If Lowry is here, THJ is who I'd rather have, not Dragic.

Trade KP for the best available guard/wing talent. Sign the best available guard/wing talent.

To me its even simpler than that.  A Noel/Maxi/WCS center rotation would be perfectly fine.  Noel and Maxi would get roughly mid 20s in minutes, WCS would vary a lot based on matchup, and Maxi can play some backup 4.
I mean Lowry will turn 36 during next season, had a PER of 17.7 and 16.5 the last two seasons, was a net negative on/off the last two seasons, and has over 33,000 NBA minutes on his body...AND is looking to get like $25-30M a year....

...UGH.

Problem with that combo is rebounding and occasionally you need beef to bang down low.  D12 is cheap, cheap, cheap and could help in those areas.
RE: Lowry Interest

I am holding out hope that the Mavs are doing his agent a big favor by letting him use them as leverage to drive up his contract.

Me too, friend.  Me too.

Which begs the question, who is the real target?

And yet tons of teams seem to want him, including potential contenders like Philly, Miami, and LA. I totally get the age concern, but if it works out then he's a perfect fit next to Luka.

Maybe someone we aren't even talking about. Nico might be really good at his job already, diverting attention from the real target.

BROGDON

I think mostly because of what CP3 did.

Don't get me wrong, Lowry is a good player and could be a stop gap in DAL....but a contract longer than 2 years at $25-30M per is INSANE IMO.
Brogdon would be a great acquisition...

Philly, Miami and LA are looking for the cherry on top.  All have teams closer to title contention than the Mavs.

LA is also linked to every player, trade and draft pick because they are LA.

All roads lead to THT.  #Don'tFireNico
If Lowry is an agent favor... Is that Beal's agent?
Let me say it like this. If the Mavs want to go for a guard in the 20-30m range on a multi year deal I would prefer a near max for Lonzo over a 3/80-90 contract for Lowry.

Given the choice, sure.  I do think Lonzo wants the ball in his hands so he probably will not want to play with Luka.
Lonzo and Collins are not options for the Mavericks. Those guys already have their destinations.

The fallback for Lowry is either Dragic or Dinwiddie.
