Kiss of death for many teams. Trade imminent.
Nurkic seems like the pain in the ass coworker who is always complaining about management.
I remember we had Norman Powell week at or near the trade deadline, but I can't remember where we landed.

Would we like him?

"He would be the perfect player to get,"* I'm sure we decided. After all, he was on another team. And someone traded for him!

*After he was acquired, this would have changed to the forum's mandatory "He sucks. Why did we get him? Whose idea was this?" But you forgot to ask that part.

You, personally, then. Do you think he's a good fit?

I myself landed on THJ since they are basically the same player. Some differences of course, but mostly same player.

I think had we made it to the 2nd round and kept Donnie and Carlisle this would have been the type of move we could have expected with a ‘keep growing the young team’ mentality.

We clearly lacked scoring in bunches from anyone on the bench. No matter how you look at it we need more of that.

"Fit" is a hazy term. So ...
1 Would he add something of value? Yes, in some scenarios he adds something, like any player with talent.
2 Do I think he's the right player to prioritize? At conjectured contract levels, No. He looks to me like a slightly better, somewhat smaller, more expensive replacement for THJ.

I think the Mavs can do better. Don't know that they will, given their track record. But imo, replacing THJ with Powell would be a disappointingly minimal "upgrade" (if it's even that) to shoot for.

What about adding him to the roster without losing THJ? Too contrived? Not possible? Not enough of a role for both?

In theory, you can always use another good player.

But finding a way to get him, without the cap room that comes from jettisoning THJ, would be an issue. After that, what you really have is two players with basically the same role and strengths/weaknesses - a wing who is a good scorer/shooter (but not a creator of offense) with defensive weakness. Between the stretch to find a way to get him (which will cause a bleed of talent somewhere else) and the huge amount of money being spent between the two to have a couple of shooters who don't create much, I think it would end up being a very inefficient use of already-scarce resources.
Powell has a bit more upside and a better defender. I much prefer Powell over THJ.
One of my dream scenarios this offseason is to SNT THJ somewhere, have Richardson opt out and sign Powell to a reasonable deal.

I've also communicated I want that much in my next salary review to my employer. I'll let you all know how that meeting goes. #shootyourshot

Someone's in for some big time disappointment...

Monta 2.0?

As dumb as it sounds, there's a method to the madness. The Lakers are currently set to be over the cap next year with only 7 guys under contract. If I was his agent, I'd ask for the moon, too. Schroder was second in minutes and third in points for the Lakers in the playoffs, and LA will have a really tough time replacing his production with the avenues that will be available. He probably won't get that much, but he might get a lot more than people expect.

Personally, I'm rooting for him to get a stupid amount of money that will maintain the status quo with an aging LeBron and hamstring LA from making other moves.

You forgot Always Disabled...
What's Schroder's realistic price point, for a starting salary? [Although, whatever it is, I can't imagine the Mavs would be interested.] If he wants a deal with LA, is it a long-term deal with LA starting in the 17-20M range? If not in that range somewhere, then where?

17-20M seems realistic.  Knicks have money, right?  Schroder seems like the type of dude that you love from afar but hate once he is in your locker room.
