Link? The last I saw rumored from SAC was 50/4, I don't think their spending room has increased, and that was several centers ago. Does TOR have cap room? and REAL interest?

Not that I think the Mavs have a shot at him. Or seem to want one.
Stockholm syndrom. After years of being held hostage as Mavs fans you guys are starting to fall for the Mavs front office shenanigans. Don´t. Look at it from a neutral perspective. They replaced Richardson with Bullock (hopefully an upgrade, cannot really get any worse). Resigned THJ. Signed two end of the bench players (Boban, Brown). I don´t see big of improvement.
Maybe the TPE or a trade can change that but the Mavs are running out of options again.

Need to hope for internal development or a major trade (KP). Maybe one of the rookies takes the next step. Maybe KP can get into the best shape of his life.

It will have to be both for salary match.  We already spent all of our cap if we go under the cap (which we wont).

Yeah that part is bad.

Bullock will be a good add. I think we'll like Dragic, if that happens.

Disappointed they didn't seem to work to get Holmes, Batum, Danny Green. Portis was the same negotiation fail like we've seen before - Dallas offers more money, he said no thanks. Batum did a dirt-cheap deal, why weren't they trying there?

I'm still baffled by Holmes. All his landing spots just went other directions, and somewhat aggressively. Odd. Did he simply price himself out of the market? I would still love for the Mavs to find a way to get him via the TPE, but that's such a longest-of-longshots wish, as that couldn't be a deal he wants, and probably wouldn't fit the wishes of SAC either. Maybe not even the Mavs. Puzzling.

This summer doesn't seem like we're seeing much difference from prior ones. A few kinda okay changes, and hope for the best.

Why would they not use it?  That would be an epic fail on the JRich trade if we are operating over the cap.

Doesn't expire for a year.

I disagree that Bullock wouldn't have gotten an offer close to the MLE/full MLE from another team. Plenty of writers/capologists put Bullocks value right around there. TJ McConnell, Kelly Olynyk, Caruso, Thies all got similar deals to Bullock.

I´m sorry.

It´s hard to argue with people that have a certain expectation until 6 PM EST and three hours later do a complete 180.

That´s a stupid debate culture. Why do we exchange arguments for two months, if you completely alter your position within a few hours based on the performance of the front office?

For months the argument was that Nico/Kidd were supposed to be the new dealmakers that could bring in the FAs that Donnie/Carlisle failed to do. The argument was that we need a new 2nd best player AND another starter.

None of the moves have gotten us any closer to those goals.

Now that they apparently failed horribly (so far) by overpaying for bench players early you act like Dallas, the city, is responsible, because it´s Chernobyl 1986.

At best you could argue for patience to see how the TPE and trades play out, but so far the Mavs have had the worst possible off-season.

Posted it before. It is easy for Sacramento to open more cap space by dumping Bagley, for instance. Of course they will not do it until Holmes agrees. Len is exception money.

It's not all bad, it's not all great.  Here's how I see it.

+Dumped Richardson for nothing.
     +Created TPE
     +Moses Brown
+Added two 3/D Players on ok'ish contract.
+Haven't squandered assets (picks) or value contracts (Brunson, DFS, Maxi)
=Overpaid THJ
-Picked up WCS option
-Resigned Boban

The guys we have are solid 3 point shooters...better than JRich.  Good defenders also.  I think they are setting the tone for who they are filling out the roster with.  Solid D and good 3pt shooters.  Hardaway...not so much D though.

We'll see what they do from here.  I can alwqys complain later.

Did we overpay THJ?  Really good year going into FA and starting at 16 mill this year.  We didnt get him on the cheap, but he isnt getting 19-20 mill to start.

I am certain the JRich trade was "successful" in meeting their hopes, from the minute it happened. It wasn't about getting Brown or a TPE. It was about cheaply getting rid of J-Rich's salary.

The disregard for the other assets, especially the TPE, is a disappointment - as it shows the exact same lack of imagination and aggressiveness in roster building, as we've seen for the last decade. This was the summer to make things pop, the prices on many good players were real bargains, but the Mavs shied away and kept powder dry. Sheesh. Looks imo like Cuban is already running scared of the salary jump coming on Luka's extension, and wants to limit the spending.

I agree with @"Mavs2021" . It´s the same story every single year. High expectations all summer long. Fueled by rumors and statements from the owner or GM. And suddenly all of that isn´t important anymore. No expectations. Just going along with whatever the front office does.
Even bigger problem. A few month later they start to complain about the offseason. Resulting in high expectations for the next offseason. Rinse and repeat since 2011. Yours truly MFFL.

18.5m per is too much in my view with his offensive inconsistencies and his lack of defense.  Normal Powell signed for 18m per.  Have to hope his contract is structured creatively.  Not holding my breath.
We’ve definitely addressed some needs in guard/wing defense and 3PT shooting, however, our most pressing issues were probably adding a secondary playmaker and another big in the mold of a PNR rim-runner who can also offer some perimeter defense and ideally some more 3PT shooting (though someone like Holmes would, have been far more than acceptable). And you’d want to do those things while upgrading the starting lineup.

So depending on what order you you rank those needs, we still need to address #1 and #2. If we can do that with the TPE and a combo of Burke/Terry/Green/WCS/Powell/MBrown the offseason could still turn out great, but from a fans perspective where we don’t know what options are out there, it does look like we’re backed into the corner a bit.
