Bingo.

I think the details of how this off season unfolds....not just the players signed, but how much and how many years, etc....will tell us a lot about the shrewdness of this new regime.

Not much more than nothing.  Come to Dallas to be overpaid one last time before you hang 'em up.

More Mavs FO incompetence if true. Epic fail.

RC don't want no garbage. Kuzma is trash.

If we chase Lowry and he ends up going elsewhere, that likely means we lost out on all of the other worthwhile targets as well. Not sure why you like the idea of a repeat of 2019 and 2020.

1) Two years ONLY (want a max slot in 2023)

2) Better be sign and trade to free up other space (preferably KP)

3) Need space for Holmes in this scenario
I don’t know if Toronto is even interested but it seems worth noting that they were on KP‘s list of preferred teams when he asked New York for a trade.
Initial post edited to reflect Forbes (out) and Dunn (in) PO decisions. 6 left...

LOL at the idea that the Mavs could get Lowry on just a two year deal. There are at least three other teams jockeying hard for his services. The man's going to get *paid.*

Looks right now like it's Lowry or Mavsbridesmaids21. BE PREPARED!!!!!!!!
The Mavs signing Lowry, re-signing THJ, and possibly pulling in a veteran wing would be the best free agency in modern franchise history. And we have people on here whining about it. John Collins is restricted and likely just sticking with Atlanta for a near-max deal, nothing the Mavs can do about it.
That would/could be a good free agency if you're just focused on this season.

That has a chance to be a major disaster long term.  No cap space and 3 albatross contracts in KP, Lowry, and THJ.

Also...do you admit you were just trolling everyone about being an insider and the Kawhi/Oubre plans?

He doesn't need to admit it, if you know him...

I really wouldn’t be surprised if the idea was to do a SNT of KP for Lowry

It's already been surmised that Toronto has said no to that.

If it does happen, then the Mavs will have plenty of room to go after a second non-THJ target, like Holmes.

If it is a three year fully guaranteed deal and Lowry is the only new big acquisition for the team, then I will go on the record right now that my first impression of Nico will be a very poor one....giving him an initial grade of a D (this assumes no trading into the draft or getting Vrenz).

You get a D.  Rolleyes Tongue

Disagreeing with the strategy doesn't equal whining.  Lowry is a cherry on top move and we only have one scoop of ice cream.  Shouldn't you be having imaginary poker games with Bob V?

This could be the case, and I see how you got here, logically.

Just saying, it's possible that Lowry is the ingredient that transforms some of the other things in the bowl into more ice cream.

He might make Brunson, Kleber, DFS, Green, Terry, etc, jump a year or two ahead in development. I can see the possibility of that. He would be the first actual veteran, respectable voice this team has had since Dirk, and tbh, he might be more engaged in "win at all costs" than Dirk was by that point.

You don't see any chance that he makes this team tougher, mentally?
A Lowry offseason would be better than running it back, especially for the next year or two (not sure about long term future).

I'm still holding on to the dream that they pry Powell away from Portland and convince them to take on KP in S&T.  Then sign Ball and Holmes with cap.  Then you are starting a nice young core of Holmes/DFS/Luka/Ball/Powell and still have Powell/Maxi/Green/room/Brunson coming off the bench.  That would be my pipedream offseason.
