And this is why Miami should be compensating Toronto for not only executing a sign-and-trade for Lowry but also taking back Dragic on an oversized contract.

Not soon, and not unless he gives his permission. And if he agrees and is traded, his 3-year Bird clock is then restarted.

So that would probably end the Mavs interest (unless they think he would re-sign as a UFA with Dallas for 13.5M starting salary), because he'd just be a rental.
KOC said on the Mismatch pod just released that the Mavs are a team to watch for Markennen. They are interested according to him. 31:15 mark of the pod.

Ok....ok....

So if this is true, the Mavs have to have some outgoing big, right? DP as part of a sign and trade?

But if Fischer is plugged in, maybe the Mavs WERE interested in LM, but that fell through. Maybe KOC is getting old info? That happens all the time.

For sure possible. Only other team they mentioned was CHA but wonder if the Oubre deal takes them out of interest.

If I’m doing a S&t for Lauri I’m trying to get Colby White as well. Probably have to give up Maxi/Green at the very least.
I like Maxi's defense, so I'm wary of Maxi for LM, but that's the simplest possibility.

If we say that's the deal, as an over-cap swap for DAL they can offer LM 3/42 or 4/57, with starting salary of $13.337M. They would retain their TPE.

With some cap gymnastics, they could offer him a contract starting somewhere around $14.5M, depending on starting salaries in other deals, but they would lose their TPE to do that.

If there are more or different players than that simple one-for-one, then the contract possibilities for an offer to LM would change.

I'd much prefer a deal built around Powell for LM, but that gets way more complex because more pieces are definitely required.
Mark Cuban and I are going to have a heart to heart if we ditch Maxi for LM.

3 year/85mill plus living in Miami plus getting to play with a close friend in Butler?

Mavs and Pels never had a chance.

So not expanded with Dragic trade. Toronto can still trade him in a separate deal
There was never a question of fit with Bullock.  It is just something a contender does.  It’s like going to the salad bar at a buffet.  That is something you do after you get the meats.

I've seen a few people say things like this and I don't get it?

Next weak link? KP. Maybe they are looking....maybe they will try to make internal changes to address the weakness he was last year. But either way I support the patience. Get better one step at a time.

The Mavs are not contenders.  They aren’t at the level to round out their roster with a salad and some dessert.  They need major helpings on the entre.

None of the major entrees this offseason wanted a seat at Mark's table and honestly, there weren't a lot of great options on the menu.  Reggie's a fine addition and on a contract that is very moveable.
