Hmm... Knowing that Masai likes negotiating through the media, this sounds like something he might put out there to drive up the price with a different team.
I wonder which teams Toronto has been most actively talking to lately?
RE: Dragic Trade
If nothing else, the Mavs not willing to put TT in that trade must mean the new management really likes what they have seen from him and where he is at personally. Very encouraging. Excited to seem him play next week.
Is it correct to say that, except possible trade scenarios, the Mavs only have the 10.5 Million trade exception that they can use to acquire another player with an existing contract which fits in the exception?
What are the possible scenarios involving that trade exception?
Who are the players who can fit in that trade exception?

I could be wrong, but I believe they might still have a cap hold or two, like Reddick's, for example.
If they don't mind raising the salary commitment, I
think they can sign-and-trade him for something small if they want, and if any team wants him at a contract higher than the minimum, of course. I don't fully understand what causes teams to be temporarily hard-capped though, so this might be way wrong.

Any current free agent, or anyone Zion or below here:

Personally, I'd take Zion into the TPE and call it a day.

I would think the offer that entices him is a 3 or 4 year deal starting at a salary that fits in the TE.
The report is he wants to come to Dallas. So he's got to sacrifice to come here...because he doesn't fit as a starter.
Does anyone really want to pay Lauri. He's solid... But I don't think he's a winning starter.

Random... I've suggested a few times that I think Fox could be moved at some point from Sacramento based off their moves.
I keep coming back to a Siakam, KP, Fox swap around with Siakam to Sacramento, KP to Toronto, and Fox to Dallas.
Obviously Dallas has to give up alot more. But it could make sense for all sides based on current roster constructions and whatever the heck is going on with Siakam and Toronto.

I like the idea, but I'd still rather have Siakam, personally.

Think so?
I think he's one of the worst players in the league without the ball in his hands. I'm really down on him, though, maybe even biased.

If you are Toronto or Dallas?
Obviously KP is the lesser piece of all that. So again, Dallas sends more.
But KP rehabbing his image on a clearly rebuilding team in Toronto (with great coaching and front office) plus assets is a very good haul for Siakam.
I think Siakam is in the same tier as KP when healthy and getting legit assets too? That's a good deal.
Brunson and Green would logically go to Toronto too. Probably a future 1st, etc to Sacramento.

Either.
But, in that particular 3-way, I'll grant you that Fox doesn't make a ton of sense next to VanVleet.

interesting. He definitely needs some work without the ball. Buuuuuuuut
Consider what he's had to work with in Sacramento. Until Haliburton the playmaking was also lacking. Coaching has been all over the place, roster has been bad, etc.

All true. All valid. And, I love speed. I really wanted the Mavs to land him in the draft that year and was hoping he'd slide.
I think I'm just done with guards and forwards who can't shoot.

Or maybe Toronto wants Josh Green.
