I hope the Mavs salvage this somehow, but I'm really disappointed so far with how much they've spent. I don't think this was a good use of roughly 14 million per year on 2 bench guys.

Its not that thse are bad signings its that this was a chance to get some talent.  Holmes, JC, Oubre, Derozan still unsigned.  Maybe these are not the best fits or not gettable but at least there is talent there. Bullock and Brown are nice players but you dont sign them first day of free agency.

I prefer to look at WHY the Mavs went after those guys instead of just constantly spouting negative comments. They are good 3pt shooters with a knack for defending. Signing Brown and Bullock to 3 and 10 mil a year respectively isn't such a detestable act. All year we've all asked to get better defensively and replace Seth's shooting. The Mavs on paper have tried to fix that with these two signings. They kept their SG at a market salary.

If they add Dragic and hopefully another SF/PF I'd call this offseason a success.

I was attacked viciously a day or two ago when I said Mavs are not players in FA. Here is the proof. I actually think the signings are good, if they have a plan for TPE and trade. If not, this offseason will be very bad.

Probably, but he just had a career year, and does not provide a hint of playmaking.  Running out a KP/DFS/Luka/Bullock/THJ lineup is going to be full on Luka show.
Here is what I have seen so far. All other teams have locked in team friendly deals.

Mavs locked in player friendly deals for THJ, Bullock, Brown and Boban.

No capspace left.
No secondary creator.
Not a single starter.
No players signed that have any growth potential or improved re-trade value.
Empty asset base remains unchanged.

I don´t know how these first three hours could have gone any worse.
Only Hardaway has taken cap space, the others have taken exceptions.

Not necessary hoping for the same names but I like the overall thought. Mavs problem in previous seasons was that they had a lot of 6th-8th guys but only 2-3 real starters.
Now they added even more fringe starters/good bench players instead of upgrading the starting five. No improvement in the top 5. No assets added.

We wildly disagree on what players we wanted, but we both can agree this has been very disappointing.

You should try comparing the shooting percentages & defense of those two guys to Bullock and Brown.

And eventually, price.

I miss the days, when we signed Monte Ellis with the MLE. Now we end up with Reggie Bullock. Can´t wait for the better 3pt shooting and defense piss-take on a 10/3/1 player.

Those exceptions only exist if there is no cap space.  We are clearly operating over the cap.  I had suggested earlier that I did not see a good way to operate over the cap and significantly improve the starting lineup.  So far that looks to be the case.

Yes please tell me how Bullock/Brown are winning players unlike DeRozan and Westbrook, because eFG. These other teams just don´t get it.

Just lower the expectations and at some point it will look like a win. I get that you are trying to stay positive but I just don´t see it. All I see is a mediocre roster. Names change. Overall performance stays the same.
All hope isn´t lost. Maybe they can salvage the situation with the TPE or a trade but it will be difficult and probably cost some assets.
That’s a good deal.

Uh................ My guy are you serious?

The old regime would still be trying to wine and dine Kawhi while all these role players would be snatched up. Mavs didn't wait on Kawhi, nor Lowry, Conley, or CP3. They went after the role players they thought were important and resigned them all at market deals.
I cant´wait till John Collins signs an offer sheet with the Knicks and the Hawks don´t match. LOL.

Would have loved having him S&T here into the TPE which seems like it would have worked based on those numbers
