I put my Cuban pitchfork down a couple weeks ago. You can borrow mine.

What is the realistic better option? Collins is not available - and I’m still stunned you’re so into Collins. Collins is a short-armed 4/5 who can’t create his own shot, yet you want to give the guy a max contract. The Hawks got better when he was less of a focus in their offense. Unreal. Conley is likely not available. They can’t pay Holmes unless they dump KP, and they can’t dump KP because they gave the guy a 5-year max with no injury protections. What exactly is the better option here? They can’t keep kicking the can down the road for the perfect deals because they’re not going to happen, ever.

According to the rumors RC is doing the exact opposite. Chasing a young RFA guard. Not the old vet.

Seems very Mark Cuban to me.

-Lack of patience.
-Wants to be proven right about the KP deal.
-Sees the Suns success with CP3.
-Overestimates the talent on his roster or underestimates the team the Suns built sans Booker/CP3 and thinks he can replicate that success with Lowry.

For fun, here is the Lowry led Raptors since the started making the playoffs.

There are plenty of better options than trading away assets to get Lowry at 3/90 plus THJ.  Hell, I would rather just get our 3 favorite MLE candidates at a little over MLE each, if we can't land any of the top FAs without completely money whipping them.

Okay, be specific - who and at what $ figures? Do you know if they would actually accept that?

While not engaging in the Lowry handwringing that so many others are up to right now, this has always been one of my favorite offseasons. Go get Portis, Jackson, and Payne, and go to war.

Jackson/Brunson
Luka/Payne
DFS/Green
Portis/Maxi
KP/Powell

Clearly better than what we had last year, with several tradable contracts.

How do you know that Jackson, Payne, and Portis will all fit into the cap space? Also, what happened with JRich?

What if someone offers Jackson $20M? Portis $15M?

The Pelicans are supposedly willing to offer $36M to Lowry…
So what do we give up in a 30M Lowry sign and trade? Must be Maxi right? Don't see any other realistic scenario, the Raps could be interested in.

If that is your shopping list you might be able to squeeze in someone else like McConnell or Noel.

Unloaded JRich with second rounders. Jackson isn't getting $20 mil per, but $15 mil for Portis sounds right. The Mavs would definitely have to open up some room to achieve this. Why are you being such a naysayer?

You congratulate them on getting overpaid.

Going off of this, Nance looks available for an expiring contract. Think they'll take JRich for Nance? Nance's contract is great, it's declining from 10mil/year.

Not the greatest rim roller, but Nance is definitely buried in the depth chart due to Jarrett Allen and Kevin Love. He can get the job done as a starting 4 here I think. Any other rim rolling stretch 4s out there?

And you’re left sifting through the bargain bin.. again. And losing in the first round.. again. And giving Luka more data points to support his departure.

Pels being a FAKE suitor to drive up the price with DAL is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. No hyperbole. Horrible. Nico might be completely overmatched as a novice GM.

And a 2nd round exit with Lowry is going to move those data points for Luka?  Doubtful.

For once, I'm with you.  Luka isn't Dirk or Giannis.  I am not sure I agree with your timetable but I'm not that far of either.

Major hyperbole. Nothing has actually happened yet. Turning on Nico already? Goodness.

I really like Nance.  So yes, please.

No, I am saying IF this ends up the case. IF the Mavs outbid a FAKE suitor and pay a soon to be 36 year old a 3 YEAR, $90 MILLION contract, that is being way over your head as a GM.
