Thanks. I don't have an Athletic subscription (so anytime you can share the info there that is helpful) and didn't remember seeing it in his tweets.

And to the main point....the wording of Sham's report doesn't seem to carry the same sort of priority that Stein was emphasizing. It just felt unusual how much Stein was stressing the Lowry thing...it felt weird, forced, and out of character....made my intuition alarm go off.

Well, as I’m sure you’ve noticed - the agent’s or agents’ names are being included in the agreement reports on Twitter. Bartelstein’s name has been on A LOT of them, seems like he really likes to give info to the media - I mean how does the Sterling Brown agreement leak so early?
(08-03-2021, 09:34 PM)Arioch Wrote: [ -> ]Actually, he asked for a link showing that either Shams or Woj had reported it (and as far as I know no one ever actually supplied one).

In that case, kammrath please provide a link from Shams or Woj that Tyrell Terry is the holdup in the Dragic trade.  Otherwise, its #FAKENEWS

Absolutely. That's exactly my point. I don't doubt the Mavs having SOME real interest in Lowry at a certain price point and contract length....all I was doubting was the singular priority he seemed to be from the Stein and Hollinger tweets. The interest felt over the top and like the Mavs were so all in that they would be doing 3 yrs/$90+M to get him.

The report that felt the most credible to me (for whatever reason) was this one:

https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/nba-fr...cunningham

There it said the Mavs wanted Lowry only on a two year deal (which makes lots of sense for a lot of different reasons).

Dude, do you have any desire to understand my position and where I am coming from? If you do, I will try to explain. If you don't, I am happy to be done.
There's really no rush for the Mavs. We NEED a secondary playmaker, yes, but in the playoffs. It's not a secret Dragic wants to play with Luka, I'm sure they talk all the time. So the Raptors can either pay $20 million to a guy who doesn't want to be there, until he gives them a small discount to buy him out, or they can cut a lot of salary this year and get a hometown guy as center depth.

I don't think it's just for the playoffs.  I think Brunson is more of an undersized SG than a true point guard.  Having a true play maker to run the second unit would be very helpful.  Not to mention the way this team is currently constructed, they are totally screwed for any games that Luka misses.  They really need that guy before the season starts.
Guys:

It's ok to disagree with people, even those who run this place. That's why we're all here, after all. None of us are here because we want to avoid debates. Most of us are addicted to them.

But, it's not ok (by me, at least) to completely badger the people who run this place. Whether you agree or disagree with them, they're the ones who post the tweets, start the threads, make the roster/salary charts, start conversations, etc, etc, etc. Personally, I feel like this place is the closest thing to Mavs fan Utopia that I've found, and part of what has made it so successful is that we are not reddit. We treat each other like people, for the most part.

We're all on edge from time to time, for one reason or another. If the Mavericks aren't living up to expectations, we should all try to remember it's through no fault of anyone here.

It's not about any one opinion...so no I dont really have any desire to understand your position on this.

BTW, Tim Cato reporting that the Mavs dont want to add any additional compensation (now that you believe Cato unlike when he reported hiring Forde never got to make a list of head coach candidates and conduct a thorough search) does not equal the new regime really loving Tyrell Terry either.  The Mavs probably dont think Dragic at $19 million is a positive asset enough to attach more compensation....whether that's WCS or Josh Green or Terry or 2nd round pick(s).

So not only do you pick and chose which reporting to believe from the same source (Cato/Stein/etc), you also extrapolate that reporting to come up with factual statements that are not necessarily true.

It would be good, yes, but the Mavs have survived, won a number of regular season games even, without Luka. It's the playoffs where that second playmaker is critical.

You called him out on the exact same thing yesterday and made multiple posts about it.  Does that count as badgering?  Asking for me.

Can we ease up on each other?

It's super hard to keep track of who reports what with all the reports flying around. Much less whether it was in a tweet or article.

We sometimes get a bit too pedantic around here. We need to start cutting each other some slack.

Had no desire to go in on him again but he had to be a dick and say

"am I done trying to prove myself?" when someone asked him for a link ONE time.  Same thing he does on a constant basis.

Or maybe if multiple people are "badgering" someone about the same thing, maybe that thing is true.

Well, whether I agree/disagree with the particular point you're trying to make isn't relevant right now. The point is that there's a way to do it. I hope I didn't make him uncomfortable when "I called him out." I certainly didn't intend anything that could've been characterized that way. If it came across to you, him, or others like that, or it somehow encouraged others to go at him this aggressively, then I probably owe him an apology.

I don't have ANY problem with the point you're making. I'm 100% with you on this topic. But it's kind of starting to feel like not that chill of a conversation. Is that your aim, to start a fight?

In my opinion, he's the one trying to start a fight.  All I did was ask for a link to the Mavs not wanting to include Tyrell Terry in a Dragic trade.

I dont appreciate his tone of voice.

Ok, fair enough.

Can we chalk this one up to a misunderstanding and just move on? We're all friends, yeah?
