Many of those names are even more "off the board" than Lowry is at this point.

They're clearly not getting Collins. Holmes or Noel, maybe. Fournier is starting to feel pretty realistic, and if Donnie was still here I think that would've been the target all along, but we don't even know what the new team thinks about him.

Nobody else on that list does a thing for me, really. There are a few names I'd like, but none that will significantly improve the team, imo.

Where's Norman Powell in all of this?
Pipedream scenario: Lowry goes to Miami --> Pelicans match Lonzo --> Lavine demands trade. Big Grin

Seriously there are still so many options out there. No reason to get nervous yet.

Otherwise, I don't see the value of the TPE.  As you mentioned, a reasonable re-sign for THJ plus taking Sato leaves us with more cap space than the MLE (which is particularly valuable for outbidding all of the MLE teams).  Plus we will have the room to replace WCS (possibly with WCS if nobody better).

Yeah, ultimately, the TPE only helps if there is a reason to get a deal done today or if THJ (or a trade replacement) gets a larger contract that leaves us less than the MLE.

If you trade for Sato using the TPE today, we are an over the cap team until THJ signs for less than his cap hold.  But, pretty easy to flip either side depending on order of operation and size of THJ contract.  Dallas could also do this tomorrow and control their over/under cap status based on whatever else happens.  Recall the moratorium keeps anything from happening for a couple of days.  So, Dallas and Chicago could agree and then work out the details of space or TPE once all the other shoes drop.

Curious to see the decision on WCS now.  To me, Toronto was the one place that might take two years of home-town Powell in a deal for Lowry.  If we are out on Lowry, I see us passing on WCS to create a little extra room.  It would really help the Holmes thing if we could dump Burke and create a little more room.

I am fine with him....much better than Lowry, DDR, Dinwiddie IMO. BUT I like the guys I listed better than him. Still have questions about him.

For sure!

I'm holding out hope for Lowry (on a deal that makes sense) until it's gone.
RE: Lowry to MIA

I would keep my eyes closely on the Duncan Robinson situation now....

I may be in the minority but a sign of Derozan, plus signing a  3 and D wing and either keeping Powell for future trade or moving him to a team that has a player with a longer commitment is the best offseason.

The Lowry/Hardaway vision is the quickest way to get to a championship contender but due to the moves you need to make (clearing cap with probably giving up assets)  and getting Lowry a commitment is going to be very hard to pull off.

I just think the fit with Luka and DeRozan is about the worst possible. Mix in KP and that might be the worst defense in the NBA.

I can't deal with it. Not going to freak out until something actually happens, but this would seriously bum me out.
If Lowry thing to Miami is true, Mavs have once again showed that they are not players. Even elderly stars don't see them as a destination. Sad.
