Of course not! At least, I sure hope he wouldn't concern himself with those.

I'm just saying that they annoy ME!

I simply don't buy the "help the agent" angle in this case, on this scale. I really think Lowry would help this team SIGNIFICANTLY, and I don't believe they were planning to give him the contract everyone assumed here. I think they're very much still on the "plan for the next good free agency" method, and I think the moves made this summer will indicate that (including the Lowry deal I was hoping for but probably won't happen) but I guess we'll find out.

Yeah Dragic only makes sense if he's bought out
You´ll all come around to my trade plan of veteran on short-term contract + (proven) upside... Tongue

We are going to get one of Markkanen and Bagley, if I read the new MBT right. Depending on how the Mavs feel about Moses Brown, he could be in a Ross + Bamba deal. They want veterans, but they also like to generate additional upside value in the trade.

Or you´ll just learn to love DeRozan.

Seriously?

Give me a break ....

It is way too frickin' early to make a proclamation like that.

Don't think Luka needs a rim runner.  He is elite offensively in 5 out or with rim runner.  What we really need is better rim protection, and if that means bringing a strong rim runner, Luka can work with that as well.

Yup, Collins needs to play the 4. Another minor issue is he doesn't really have positional flex, he's pretty locked in at 4 no matter what. Team stays 5 out because of KP who is supposed to be the rim protector. He's good at it when healthy but yeah, nobody knows if he'll ever get to that level again. He may just be risk-averse and not jump around too much to prolong his career.

I don't think KP is getting traded this offseason personally. If he still can't protect the rim, maybe something is done at the deadline. Upgrade at the 4 this offseason needs to be at least a decent rim runner though I think, cause KP is made of glass and won't do it.
Lonzo on the left.....Dinwiddie on the right....

I can finally see why despite bad D and no shooting that there is interest in Dinwiddie....

Just to be clear, I'm NOT in favor of the kind of "overpay" this suggests it would take.

I simply like Lowry and what he could potentially bring to the table, and I allowed myself to believe Harrison had some kind of inside track on signing big time guys like this.

He probably still DOES. It is just that Lowry wants to play with Butler and that has been the case for a LONG time.

Yes, seriously (assuming rumors are correct).

Mavs target nr1: Kawhi - stays with Clippers
Mavs target nr2: Lowry - goes to Miami
Mavs target nr3 ? - ...

On the other side:
Miami target nr1: Lowry - check

See the difference?

Yes, that is probably true, ... and furthermore ...

EVEN IF "not getting an almost 36 year old 6'0" guard on a $90M contract" really were  an "unmitigated disaster" of "apocalyptic" proportions, it would not necessarily prove that the Mavs "are not players," if  Kyle Lowry's love for Jimmy Butler (or any of the umpteen gazillion other possible reasons why Kyle Lowry might prefer Miami over all other NBA teams, including Dallas) trumps the dazzling acumen of the one and only Amazing Nico.

Yep....that's the difference ao far.  Draft is over and you are now on the court....what are you doing?  Might be fine, but so far, until it changes, same ol thing.
Just to clarify. Mavs summer might still turn out good with plans J-Z. But good teams execute plans A-B, because they take what they want.
If we accomplished something like

S&T Oubre 48/4 for Kleber.
Re-sign THJ to 68/4.
S&T Markkanen 72/4 for Powell + Brunson + future 2nd round pick
Take Larry Nance into the TPE. Make them take Burke for one of their four non-guaranteed deals.
Sign Oladipo 20/2 with the MLE.

Not the worst summer. It´s all about how much you have to pay for guys like Oubre, THJ, Markkanen and Oladipo. If their starting salaries come out to an average of $12-13M that´s great business.
