Last summer of cap room and Reggie Bullock is the big haul so far. Unless they pull something of significance off we didn’t do much to improve the roster for next year and also invested little to nothing into the longterm future. 

So far this is close to the last offseasons.

Stein said (I’m paraphrasing here) on his Greenroom just now that the last he had heard.. the Mavs are not interested in getting involved in the Miami-Toronto trade. The Mavs would love Dragic but not at his current salary. They would only be interested after a buyout. He also said another team could emerge to take back Dragic, so no guarantees he ends up in Dallas.

Skins rant = more clicks.  What, fans unreasonable about expectations? 

I agree that social media is a negativity amplifier but screaming and saying you hate everyone to try and make a sane point is kinda funny.  Which is why I think it may have been somewhat purposeful.

I will say this.  Adding 2 3&D Wings that shoot 40%+ from 3 isn't a bad deal for any year.  Ultimately, to be a total success, you want those guys AND a headliner (which we don't have).

It's at least on par when they signed Seth Curry, right?  

Still....any way you slice it, from 2019-now, we certainly didn't take advantage of what we had.

I wish this was negotiating through the media but it sounds like a fairly logical and typical pro DP Mavs position.

He did say, and this is obviously true, that the trade cannot be actually completed until Friday. Things could change. I think I am trying to mentally and emotionally accept that the Mavs’ offseason is actually done.. gulp.

That’s fair Imo, I like the Bullock-signing. It’s just the „what else“-part that lacks.

I think we’re done. They can waive Moses if they need a roster spot (unguaranteed + moves a C-only player).

The TE can be brought into the season. Then it’s on Kidd to get the best out of this roster.

They probably bank on the upward trajectory of Dwight in the latter part of the season. He might even start here. Then Kleber + one of the Cs comes off the bench.

These aren’t new ideas. They started DP before the injury and probably still like him in that role. If he rolls then KP doesn’t have to. The duo had strong advanced metrics before the achilles injury.

Simple math:

Dwight - 2y 23 m
Dragic - 1y 19 m

= 4 m savings
+ Dwight ~ -10 m value

= 14 m total savings

We could be sitting on all our cap waiting for Kawhi which would mean John Collins would probably have signed a full max offer from Atlanta since he could use Dallas as leverage.

So really John Collins should be more disappointed in how the Mavs have handled their off season so far. 

None of us have actually lost money because of it...
