Yeah, I'm pretty confident that BOTH Miami and Dallas are wanting to offer shorter (and possibly lower salaries per) contracts than New Orleans. It will be up to Lowry whether he wants to choose the bag or a playoff team. Could be wrong, but I don't get all the hysteria about a deal that hasn't happened yet.

Could also mean they have reached a S&T deal with the Raptors that includes Dragic (in some form). I´d be seriously confused, if they had picked up Igoudala. EDIT: I see they already declined. Now that thing is untradeable league-wide, now that the old MBT is broken up. Big Grin Though I guess Igoudala will have some value at the minimum.
I think no one would take Iggy contract without an asset and Miami is very short on assets, so it made no sense to keep him. Someone might be intrigued enough by Dragic for a minor compensation, which is likely enough to get the Lowry SnT done without sending salary to Toronto.

Move on to plan B now. Don’t wait.

You mean:

"Move on to plan A now....smokescreen accomplished."

I get that Tobias Harris makes an enormous amount of money, but he does most of what attracts us to Collins at $28mm AND can creates his own shot.  Philly can't get S&T Lowry without dumping some salary to avoid the hard cap.  Most presume it would be Simmons.  But what if they see Simmons in the front court being a good use if they have another shot creator in Lowry.

So, we send Powell and S&T Hardaway ($17.2mm) to Toronto.  We get Tobias and Philly probably gets a hometown discount from Lowry.  If that number is $25mm this saves them $11mm toward staying under the apron.  We can take back a little more salary as this is all over the cap (Thybulle, Green, Korkmaz?), though only the first one helps with their salary situation.  Or, you do the Satoransky deal we discussed earlier.  There is still the MLE to fill in other holes.

Don't think Tobias is a good replacement for Collins. He'd be a secondary creator, but he doesn't play above the rim and doesn't rim run at all really. He's also way more inefficient from 2. His highest EFG% is .561 in 55 games on the Clippers the year he got traded to Philly and that was with shooting 43% from 3. He is sort of like THJ in that yeah he'll take someone off the dribble for a mid range shot, but do you really want that... ever? Similar assist numbers early in their careers. Collins has way better inside touch and he actually does hit midrange shots, he just rarely takes bad shots which is why his efg% is elite. 63% & 61% in years 3 and 4. Better rebounder too. Ball handling can possibly be developed still which is the biggest weakness. Run offense through guards when Luka is on the bench.

After seeing the Slovenia games, it's pretty obvious Luka needs an elite roll man and more inside threats in general. Collins gives that plus elite shooting to stay 5 out so he's the ideal target of course. The rumors coming out still only have ATL giving him $24/year (likely with incentives) with most random twitter fans calling it an overpay so it's not a lock yet. If you can get Collins, then you probably look for a roleplayer rim protecting stretch 5 to replace KP in a year or 2 to shed that max salary cause I don't think you need much else from that spot.

Not completely sure, but I think 4 out with an elite roll man is better than 5 out. So someone like Holmes works plus he's got a really long range floater too so he's not useless outside the restricted area. Still difficult to find a rim runner with good perimeter defense as a fit next to KP though. This FA needs to come away with someone like Powell with better defense or a 3pt shot. Nance looks like a decent cheap filler for a rim running stretch 4 if the weight loss illness stuff wasn't too bad. Nance with Bagley off the bench as a developmental project would be great, but would have to find a way to get rid of most of the bigs on the team right now.
Hopefully that means Dragic isn’t an option here. He’s not a starter anymore and we don’t need an old guard off the bench with Brunson on board.

If we could pivot to Lonzo now that would be great. I’d vastly prefer him over Lowry/Conley/Dragic anyway. He’d just solve a buckload of problems for us with his size/defense/shooting/passing.
A'ight. Sounds like the Lowry to Miami train is officially picking up steam.

There really IS no "elsewhere" though.

If it's Oubre and THJ, I'm going to give up.

If it's Dinwiddie and THJ, I'm going to get drunk, ruin this board for about 48 hours and then give up.
Now let's try to dodge DeRozan.
