Best is Nick Nurse in the end.

Luka 'WhoomWhoom' Doncic Razzmatazz
Some of those Kings fans in the Luka thread are pretty smart:

"As great as Luka/Zing zing have been i got to give props to Kleiber who has been an absoutle monster on defense and just a GREAT role player what a good signing/pick up that was. I beleive @206Fan was all over him in the off-season and boy was he right Maxi would be a god send on this Kings squad."

"dude has a franchise player and an elite second option in Porzingis no matter what he did before that he’s good now. Even though he should’ve throw money at Brogden, he already did the hard part."

I've had the privilege to be somewhat close to people who have been in pro sports due to my studies and these people will tell you that professional sports teams aren't as professional as the fans think they are. In any case fans can be smarter than people in the industry, sometimes it is mind boggling what is going on behind the scenes.

Plus professionals source social media and message boards as well. Your analyses and ideas might be discussed in front offices and coaching staffs. There have been multiple realgm inspired trades. People sometime get job offers because of what they post on Reddit or realgm. But mostly getting in the industry requires courage and connections.

Ben Taylor is my favorite basketball writer and content creator for the last year or so. While I don't always agree with his takes, he always backs everything he says with substance. Plus the clean videos he puts out detailing his points is in my opinion the best basketball analysis there is right now. If you haven't done so already, look through his channel and watch some of his stuff (my personal favorite was Luka's breakdown last year).

I don't think so. Gonna need an example on this. There are smart fans for sure. And I've heard of team staffers reading message boards. But there is a grand canyon sized gap between the knowledge base of pros and fans.

My nephew is a pretty regular poster on Reddit and got a call from an eSports GM on a brand new team to discuss his thoughts based on a post he made. Not sure it was an interview for an open position, but there were open positions. He didn't get a job offer however.
There were a lot of pre-season writings that basically said "Luka had a great rookie run, but now everybody has film and will know how to shut his game down." The implication was an expected sophomore slump. Was part of the justification for not including DAL in the playoff projections.

After a couple of weeks, it seems like Luka has been re-discovered by the non-Mavs media.

I say Welcome to our Bandwagon, it's going to be a fun season!

It's a multibillion dollar industry and if you group all games together it is the biggest sport competition on this planet already. It is recognized as a sport genre by academia and an important economic factor. Professional players start having nutritionists and psychologists and fitness coaches with personal chefs. All big sport ventures try to expand into esports.
Esports is nothing to scoff at!

Even the Mavs have an esport team. Of course we can debate about definitions ,but it is to be taken seriously. It's becoming more and more mainstream as well.

All true. But a message board poster being contacted by an esports GM isn't the same as a message board poster being contacted by a pro sports GM

I get it, but it doesn't point to full irrelevance.

Edit: I'm also on your side of this pretty much.

Gary Payton "Dallas really really deep into the playoffs"

Gratifying.

To further the story, my nephew said the guy was pretty fresh out of College (can't remember which, but was a statistical major) and didn't know anything about sports or esports pretty much at all.
