I might've compared those two players a few months ago, but as I type this today I don't think they can be compared with a straight face. Gobert has such an unbelievably superior command over his body when compared to KP. Gobert's ability to move and cover ground is closer to Kleber or Powell, AND he has the length to go with it.

I feel embarrassed for ever questioning @"Kammrath"'s "go get Gobert" take. I was too focused on finding someone who could work WITH Porzingis, and not open enough to the idea that if you have Gobert, you honestly don't even have to care whether KP fits with him or not. If he does, great, but if not (which was and is my guess) then who cares - you have Gobert, which is WAAAAAAAAAY better than having KP.

Ugh, the comparison is what you can't teach, their height. Being able to recover, instinct on what to do, everything else can be taught and worked on. He came here saying he wanted to be DPotY, so the desire is there. Now, put him through rigorous training and coaching and film sessions and get him to the level he wants to be at. This should be done in the offseason at a much more intense level, but he hasn't had the benefit of the last 2 offseasons.

Isn't Luka great?

Luka really never gets super hot or ice cold. Would have never guessed that he had a career high FG% in the last game. 70% (14/20). And it´s not even close. Second best is 63.2% (12/19).

I was a little nervous Lillard might get in over Luka.

Lillard probably deserves the spot over Luka if I take off my homer glasses.

Kamm you should have a field day on this one. Really promising stuff here.

I agree it is very close.  I am comfortable with Luka earning his starter spot here.

My hope was more of a legacy thing.  No one will remember Luka barely beat out Lillard for the starting spot years from now, only that Luka was named an All Star starter for the second consecutive year.

I do have a problem with Blazer fans trying to tear down Luka to try and justify their emotions.

I don't really think it is close to be honest.  Blazers are in the 4th spot and have had as many roster disadvantages as the Mavs who are in the 10th spot.  Lilard is also ridiculously clutch.  I'm not trying to tear Luka down or anything but winning matters.
