At this point it feels like Luka might put up at least 20/5/5 for every remaining game of his career.

"With that performance and another big offensive night as a team, the Mavs find themselves with the best offense in NBA history, as their 117.1 ORtg entering Sunday, per Basketball-Reference, was a full 1.2 points per 100 possessions better than last year’s Warriors team that set a new record, narrowly eclipsing the 1986-87 Showtime Lakers’ mark. Including the Lakers game, Cleaning the Glass has them at 116.4 (which excludes last second heaves and garbage time), and what’s most incredible about that mark is that they’re doing so with Doncic as the only player operating at a superstar level at the moment."

"Carlisle has settled on the same unit over the last six: Doncic, Porzingis, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Tim Hardaway Jr. That group has an eye-popping net rating of plus-24.3 in 88 minutes, the best among all lineups in the NBA that have played at least 80 minutes this season."

"Their all-bench lineups have been killing opposing second units during their recent hot streak. Wright, Curry, Maxi Kleber, and Justin Jackson all have net ratings higher than plus-10 over the last eight games, while the Mavs are plus-5.6 in 120 minutes without Doncic during that span. They have one of the best players in the NBA and one of the best benches behind him, which puts a lot of pressure on opponents throughout a game. Dallas can create a lead at any point and has the manpower to hold on to it."

Shew, Luka beat out Melo, was soooo close...
Euro month
Luka for MIP? A lot of times we here how Siakam could become MIP again this season. So let's compare them:

Siakam
16,9 - 25,1
6,9 - 8,6
3,1 - 3,9

Luka
21,2 - 30,7
7,8 - 10,3
6 - 9,4

Both guys have made their teams considerably better than expected. Taking into account how much more difficult it is to come from 20 to 30 than from 15 to 25, Luka is a clear winner for me here.

The third candidate would be Graham from Charlotte.

I don't even think you need to include this. The assists stat alone helps the case and if he ends up the season averaging a triple double, there's no way anyone else in the league improves that much more than him. If he does average a triple double, it'd be hard to not give him the MVP, which I think puts a damper on his MIP bidding. However, if he doesn't win the MVP, I think MIP should very much be his.

It's a Wednesday, so a new award created.

I guess this is a thing...
