Damn!
Quote:"They seek his input, but he's not heavily involved in personnel decisions," ESPN's reporter Tim MacMahon told. "He has not shown interest in being heavily involved. He spends much of his offseason in Europe. He's not a guy who has shown the desire to be a recruiter."

My take on this is that it's good news for people worried about Luka leaving Dallas, but probably not great news for people who'd like to see him win multiple championships while he's here.

Maybe this will evolve as he gets older, however.

Not sure. Could also mean that Luka expects the front office to get the job done. What happens if they fail to do it remains to be seen (hopefully won´t be the case).

I think this is how it is done in Europe. Our leagues are not star driven and I think it would be pretty strange if a player would dictate who he wants or doesn't want to play with.

I think it is also better that players are less involved. Look what LeBron and his decision to bring Westbrook did to Lakers. FO is paid to do their job and their job is not to construct a team full of Luka friends. It is to construct a team that will work best next to Luka.

Totally agree, BUT...some of these guys over here in this country might want to play here more if they feel like Luka wants them. That's my only concern. I definitely think the idea that he doesn't expect to dictate terms to the front office is a huge plus. I just think that the NBA is a little more player-driven than it was in Dirk's day.

In other words, rather than either extreme I hope this settles somewhere in between, where Luka is involved just enough to help them get people here and also to let them know he won't be taken advantage of but while being hands off enough to let them do their jobs. It's a small target to hit, I know, and if I had to choose an extreme, the European way you describe is obviously superior from a fan's perspective.

I agree with the above.

I will also add that Luka is now world famous and, at 23, is enjoying his status while trusting MBT to "git-r-done".

Luka's approach to recruiting is exactly the same as Dirk's approach. That's a good thing.

Is it? Who ever came to play with Dirk?

Enough to win a championship. Two if the refs did their jobs.

But more importantly, guys who aren't obsessed with recruiting superteams tend to also not leave for them.

I don’t know that we have enough info to support that equivalency. I see those as two, separate issues, personally.

The league is NOT going to be able to handle "skinny Luka"! Better than adding a 2nd star!
Just curious.

What are the garments that look like long kilts called? Is this common in Croatia? Is it specific to Croatia, or is there similar wear in other countries?
