To come back to this Townsend Interview about his shape: I don't like that Brad asked Luka about it at this stage of the season. But even less I like Luka's reply. It shows he vastly underestimates the potential of body transformation and is a huge warning sign of complacency. I hate it. And I also hate his complaining to the refs - he should care about what he can control like his shape. Not a good start to this year. And stop it with all the MVP talk, that's just way to early and doesn't so him a favour IMO.
I hate his complaining too but he’s young and feels he should already be getting the Suer star treatment he doesn’t get.

Also I don’t think his body is an issue. Y’all are making way too much of that.

So funny, love his attitude.
3. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks

  1. Pre-Bubble Rank: 5
  1. Putting Luka Doncic ahead of Stephen Curry, James Harden and Damian Lillard is not a rush to coronate, even if it doesn't yet look right. Predictive measures allow for some imagination, and it is hardly outlandish to argue he has inserted himself into the top-three-player discussion.
  1. Last season served as his megastar initiation. He averaged 28.8 points and 8.8 assists on 58.5 percent true shooting, all appreciable upticks from his rookie year. His efficiency from beyond the arc can engender eye rolls; parades aren't thrown for knocking down 31.6 percent of your threes. But the degree of difficulty on his attempts, coupled with the defensive attention he demands from everywhere on the floor with the ball in his hands, balances out the raw percentages.
  1. So, too, does Doncic's finishing. He leverages both a floater and the body strength to convert at the rim through contact. T.J. Warren and Ben Simmons were the only non-bigs last year to shoot better on twos than Doncic (57.4 percent) while attempting at least 500 such shots.
  1. Sticking him (much) lower writes off almost any potential improvement, an implication that Doncic has broached his absolute peak. That would be absurd.
  1. He doesn't turn 22 until February, and this will be just his third NBA season. His career arc has far from topped out. He could turn in more even crunch-time performances. He could shoot a higher clip from the foul stripe. He could drop in more of his uber-difficult threes, just as he did in the playoffs.
  1. This room for growth is at once undeniable and terrifying. Having him is already akin to a playoff ticket, and he just became the first player in league history to secure a top-five finish on the MVP ballot before his age-21 season. If the best really has yet to come, whatever still awaits is impossibly hard to fathom.

I’m actually split on all this MVP hype.

One the one hand Dallas would probably have to be top 2 in the west for it to actually happen.  That would be nice.

On the other hand, I think this team is more successful if Luka is scoring 25/26 (with similar assists and rebounds and TS% to last year) giving up a few points to KP, JRich and THJ.

He should be treated like an MVP candidate. The league needs to protect its bread and butter, not let teams cheat against them.
Luka working on his free throws, expecting him to have 80+% at the line this season
Threes at least 35%, less difficult attempts and I'll be happy

Just want to repost this video of Luka just to remind some people just how good he is. This was a week before draft night.
