Congrats to Luka...he needs a full offseason of rest and a chance to actually work on his game. I think he was over this season a long time ago.

2020-2021: Covid-affected NBA schedule + Olympics
2022: WCF run + Eurobasket
2023: upcoming FIBA World Cup

Slovenia will probably start preparing in August so this will be the first time he's had 3-4 straight months off since the Covid break in 2020.

Good point! I guess we‘ll find out what he’s made of - mainly pure love and joy for the game or hard work and grinding as well? He‘s still young, but we all know how Dirk attacked these opportunities to enhance his game and athletic ability systematically.
Sort of embarrassing Mavs kept Luka in for the start of the second so he could get a standing ovation leaving the game.  Only to be met with a slight applause.  I get it.  This season sucks.  But also something a player may store in the back of his mind.
Glad Luka had some good comments after the season.  But these next two months are going to be really tough for him.    I am sure he is going to have a lot of doubt and questions on this front office.   Like it or not, they are on the clock.   Hopefully this turns out to be just one of those years from hell and we bounce back next year.  But this front office has a lot proving to do....starting now.   If this slog drags over to next season, things will not be pretty.
Is he completely off this summer from all national team commitments?

He has a FIBA event in August for Slovenia.

So basically the entire summer and has an early training camp since most teams typically start training around September.

Respect. Interesting side note: US media got this news before Slovenian media. Also seems before Serbian media
Luka is a class act.

I feel for all the families affected.
Clearly, the voters know the Mavs coaching is trash. Otherwise, no way he gets 1st team with that record. I hope Luka prepares for next year like he missed the first team nod.
Nightmare scenario: the Spurs sign Luka when he hits free agency which syncs up nicely to the end of Wemby’s cost controlled rookie deal. They’d win every year. The Mavs better get to work.

Better than LA or the Heat.
Hopefully Cubes and company can do enough the next couple years to keep him around
Amazing how the Mavs made this a terrible year to watch the mavs. Luka does not escape any blame…but come on.

He really is one of the most fun players to watch. Ignore all the BS and ref yelling.

Dude is a flat out amazing talent. He literally wows me every time I watch him. I'm happy I've been able to watch him light everyone up donning a Mavs jersey the last 5 years.
I am with you on that one for sure.
