"although many thought Young should have."  (2 vs 98 is not many)

No, Doncic is clearly the best player out of that draft.  Teams would build around Doncic every single time, given that choice.

Still, I think Trae is a good exciting player, but just stop with the notion he is equal to Doncic.  You lost that trade Atlanta, deal with it.
Crazy to think about that Luka could still be a Maverick in 2039, 40 years old, finishing his career and only been playing for the Mavs his entire career.

Luka at 17, already had the step back 3 and the Aomine Daichi natural scoring touch + prodigious passing ability.

Suns, Hawks, Kings fucked it up. What else do you need to see. They even had data from him playing against NBA players in OKC, international play + Euroleague.

It's insane.

Baring injury he will be in goat conversation. It's absolutely nuts.

Best player 20 and younger ever is a safe thing already.

Luka is an anime character.

Man I love Dirk so much, but let’s hope Luka does (as long as it’s in a Mavs uniform) cause that would be one special career.
If he every becomes a consistent 3 point shooter, he'll be unstoppable. He's already a strong spot up shooter, but he takes WAY too many bad step back 3's along with super deep 3's. His shot choices are his only major concern at this point. He checks every other box. He will be a hall of famer if he has a healthy career for sure.

Luka is

#2 in VORP behind Giannis
#2 in BPM behind Giannis
#5 in Winshares behind Lillard/Harden/Giannis/Lebron

top 5 in raptor war

There is lot of talk who Luka compares best to. I think Larry Bird is a good comparison. In terms of type of skillset, I would go for Toni Kukoc. Same Yugoslavian school of basketball, similar build, and type of skillset, however Luka is already quiet better than Kukoc even was in his prime, and is going to be more in Larry Bird class when he enters his prime. Kukoc, like Luka, could do it all, wow passes, bbIQ, shoot, rebound etc. I see much of the similar movement with the ball in these two players. Both were respective champions in Europe and also MVPs before coming to NBA. Didnt had the stepback tough and also the trickery that Bird and Luka do.
All-Star lock and MVP candidate confirmed...
Luka really impressed me even a little more today which is surprising since it feels like he can do anything these days and at a consistent rate... He showed how deadly he can be off ball and still get double and triple teamed. The game film from tonight is really going to toss a wrench in other teams plans.

I would have loved to see him move more without the ball though especially to get some spot up shots but this was a nice look for him tonight.
To me Luka is competing against Lillard to be the STARTER in the West backourt alongside Harden. Luka/Harden/Leonard/James/Davis is my starting 5 right now.

how crazy isn't it to think about... that Luka is only in beginning of his second season in the NBA. He is contending to be all-star starter and is even a legit MVP candidate. He is just coming of a game against defending champions where he was doubled team all the game long, and he still made insane stats and a win. I mean Lillard is in his absolute prime and he may be benched by a second year player, 20 years old.
