???

If it's so easy to get a positive DRPM, then why can't Luka do it to save his life?

Watch the games. His defense is a problem. He'd better learn how to do it. The Mavs won't contend until he does. Dirk gets bashed, but he was an at least average defender around the time the Mavs won the championship.
He's 20 years old one more time. When he's 23, then you can start asking for defense, because he definitely has it in him, the guy just doesn't want to get in foul trouble, because if he did, you guys would lose it.
"Oh, why isn't he on the floor"? "He's on the bench in foul trouble where we need him".
I mean, you know the league has no filter when it comes to young guys playing defense. If he even breathes on someone, a foul will be call. But once he turns 23 or 24 and starts playing defense, they won't be as brutal because by then he'll be well established. And obviously the guy CAN play defense if you've watched games, you'll see him every now and then lock down on someone.

How much more established does he need to be when he's in the top 3 of All-Star voting and a legitimate MVP candidate?

I mean that more of an indictment of the NBA and its refs than a genuine response to your point. My point is that he has already established himself in the league, in the view of fans, pundits, and players everywhere, to get the same calls now as he will when he's 30. It's just that the league is too dumb-assed to get the memo.

Good one! Smile

I found out years ago (and not only me) that ESPN's TPM doesn't cover all type of players equally and this year with help of some guys from this forum I found out that even ESPN's injury report is not accurate.
You will have problems to cover your LD's D concerns with more earthlike stats than ESPN's RPM.
Yes, eye test can tell that Luka can oversleep some D possessions here and there, he did step away instead of contest some rim attacks, he's making more mistakes in D than in O. But so the whole team does because to learn team D takes more time then O. Those guys w/o JJB, Lee and rookies are averaging 2,92 years NBA experience and they are playing together only few months. They are young and they all have room for individual D improvement but mainly better team work on D with preventing bad player to player switches will increase chances for better individual D.
I don't share your concerns regarding LD's D neither for his life. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to see improvement in kid's D. If you're into stats I suggest you to look into TPA or NBA stats or a link published in some other thread on this forum regarding last game hustle stats to see how much Luka hurts this team with his D over some period of time.

Luka has slimmed down a lot

Luka #2 behind Giannis...
60% free throw shooting the last 5 games....just killer. Has to get his mental game going (maybe by humming Hasselhoff at the line?), clearly in a slump.

Oh, c'mon man, that was debunked a long time ago.

Dirk was always like: "Shalalalalalah, Aha, it was down at the new Amsterdam..."

Lol.
Great podcast in general. This episode is very interesting. He argues that Luka should be Most Improved Player "by a landslide".
