Jacoby is promising a championship in Dallas in the next three years.
Anyone keeping track of Luka's triple doubles? Lebron just recorded at least one triple double against all 30 teams.

This season: Lakers, Knicks, Cavs, Spurs, Pelicans

Last season: Suns, Kings, Warriors, Clippers, Hornets, Raptors, Bucks

17 more teams to go!

Boston, Philly, Brooklyn
Indiana, Detroit, Chicago
Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Washington
Denver, Utah, Minnesota, OKC, Portland
Houston, Memphis

I'm never a stat guy but with Luka having done it 6 times already in the first 13 games made me curious. I had to do some research..

With some luck, he'll max out at those 29 teams
Cool

Skip has made his living by saying idiotic things about the biggest players. When he was in Dallas he started his ridiculous career by saying stupid things about Troy Aikman. He found a national stage by saying stupid things about LeBron James. He's the worst kind of coattail rider. No reason to think he would change now. Luka is hottest name in the NBA. Of course Skip will say stupid things about him. It's what he does.

Yep, deep down inside; he loves Dallas sports, but he knows he has to follow his bit. Expect to hear this for the next decade.

Needs to be put in the premature thread! Let's enjoy the boy wonder.

Let's be happy he gets early recognition, the recognition that Dirk never got before 2011.

Loved this! Thanks SPM!
"I always ask him, 'What do you want to run?'" Doncic said of his coach. "During the game, he lets me call the plays. It's good. It lets the game go and play more with pace. I think it's the best basketball to play."

Scouts consider Doncic a predictable playcaller at this point. He has two pet playcalls, both of which are staples around the NBA: the Mavs' "Push" set that is commonly known as "pistols action," giving Doncic the choice of a dribble handoff or pick-and-roll on the wing; and a high pick-and-roll.

Man this article is absolutely fantastic, best article I read on the Mavs in a very long time. Thanks @"ClutchDirk"

"He's one of those rare players that has not only an amazing imagination for the game but the skill and the ability and the wherewithal to pull it off," Carlisle said.
"Fans think he's obviously very good," Brunson said. "But he brings an aspect to the game where basketball players around the league really just kind of sit back and watch what he's doing. Because he's doing something crazy."

I think that sometimes still happens to his teammates which might be a reason for casually subpar off ball movement or other players heroballing inspired by doncic free reign.

When the Mavs end practices with H-O-R-S-E-style shooting games, no one can compete with him.
"He'll just come and do something just another step higher than everyone's done," Broekhoff said. "Over the backboard, from in the tunnels or full-court shots. He does it, but it's just kind of normal for him. He does his stuff and it's just kind of like, 'Yep, thanks.' It's not like a huge celebration."
"He can shoot like a rainbow shot from halfcourt and make it go in," Kleber said, "when everybody else is just trying to shoot a regular shot and trying to make it."
The Mavericks' practice facility does not have a particularly high ceiling, so rainbows are impossible. Three-quarter-court shots should be, too, but Doncic "somehow banks it in" from that distance, according to Broekhoff. Like superbolts to scientists, Doncic is a curiosity. He is turning Dallas' regular-season games into appointment viewing, and he is in complete command of the game, in better shape than ever before and in the way-too-early MVP conversation. Broekhoff said that he routinely does "things that you just don't think should be done or can be done," praising him for bringing fun and excitement but lamenting that Doncic "just makes me feel bad" because he makes it look so easy.
"Everybody wants to be Luka," Kleber said.

What an excellent article

"He's one of those rare players that has not only an amazing imagination for the game but the skill and the ability and the wherewithal to pull it off," Carlisle said.
This is my favorite quote from the article:

In other words, Doncic is going to call his own number and create. When the Mavs dig deeper into Carlisle's thick playbook, those calls tend to come from the sideline.
"I think they just see it a little bit different," said a Western Conference scout who has watched the Mavs multiple times. "I think they'll get on the same page. It'll take some time. But I think Luka sees things for him more than others.
"It's not like he's trying to ball hog or anything. He just thinks, 'I can take this fool.'"
This shows how high his ceiling is:

Well hopefully Luka only records triple doubles against 29 other teams for the rest of his career.

Nope.  Just read his stuff.  Some is good and some is not.  In the summer he was on top of quite a few FA/Trade nuggets, this was on the other board.
